The Vanishing Bandana is without a doubt one of the funniest magic routines you will ever perform, and now it's completely updated for the times...We've redone it, and redone it right! Check out some of the amazing new additions we added to this classic of magic!

You explain to the audience that you subscribe to the Magic Trick Of The Month Club and that you just received a new magic trick in the mail and you were so excited about sharing it with them you haven't even opened it yet. You open the shipping box and remove a CD. You put the CD in your CD player and turn up the volume loud enough for everyone in the audience to hear. After a short music introduction, a voice explains that this is "The Lesson of the Amazing, Mystical, Vanishing Bandana." The voice tells you that you need two props for this trick. The first is a large dark colored square cloth and the second is a yellow bandana. After hearing these words, you reach into the shipping box and bring out a piece of dark fabric and a yellow BANANA, not a yellow bandana.

The voice continues to explain that this lesson is about "palming" and instructs you to fold up the yellow bandana and vanish it in the dark square of fabric. You really fold and mash up the banana (UGH!), which gets tons of laughter from your audience. The trick ends with you vanishing the folded and mashed banana in the dark fabric square, which is in reality a Devil's Handkerchief.

This routine is so easy to perform. The CD "talks" you through the entire trick which gives you time to really maximize the laugh factor. Supplied complete with everything you need for this effect (except the Banana) This one is too good to pass up and perfect in any type performance.

"The Amazing Mystical Vanishing Bandana is one of the best pieces of magic I have ever purchased. Not only did everything live up to or exceed all advertised claims, the entire experience from visiting your web site to reading the final beautiful poem in the excellent manual was superb." - Jeff Smith

It’s no doubt that this effect has become the go to effect for the magician who wants a hilarious routine, but doesn’t want to spend the time to sit down and write one. I know this isn’t everybody who does the effect, as I have several close friends who do the effect in their kid and family shows, and get really good responses with it.

I have no problems with the effect or the premise itself. I actually think it’s quite genius on both accounts. I’ve seen my friends absolutely kill with this effect. However, I’ve also seen other magicians do it and have about twenty kids yell they’ve “seen this one before.” What are the people in the audience thinking? I’d bet they are thinking that most magicians are the same. That’s the main reason I don’t like this effect.

Again, I don’t think this makes it a bad effect. It’s a great effect. It’s literally a push button routine. You don’t have to worry about technique in the method. The plot is very funny, and the response to the effect is always strong.

There are several problems with this particular version. Notice how I gave these men the benefit of the doubt by saying ‘version’ and not knock off! One of the problems with this version is that there is no crediting. There are several different ‘versions’ of the effect on the market, and this one I am reviewing gives no crediting as to actually put the work into this routine.

The only instructions provided are on a single sheet of paper. They are written poorly, and give no real work on the magic or comedy. The CD has two tracks: The instructions in a male voice, and the instructions in a female voice. The Devil’s Hank is made of fabric used to make a child’s cowboy pillow or blanket. No Joke. It has “cowboys” written on it at several places, and has cowboys and indians on horses. The CD the audience never sees looks better than the Devil’s Hank the audience does see. You also are provided a yellow bandana for a final comedy moment that makes you look like a doofus once again after you have triumphantly used magic to solve your dilemma. This final gag totally misses the point of the whole effect.

I know a magician who had his friend make a copy of the audio instructions, and had his mom make him a devil’s hank. While some would agree that this is unethical, I would say it’s even more unethical to then package that home made version and sell it for thirty-five bucks. Whether this manufacturer is the creator or not, there is very little value in this version for the price.

If you want to do this routine, buy the original version. Don’t steal it, and definitely don’t waste your money on this version.
