Signed Bill to Pen

(Based on 2 reviews)
Borrow a bill. Hand the spectator a designer silver and gold pen. The spectator writes down the serial number of the bill. You can even ask the spectator to sign the bill. Take the pen apart. Remove a small gold tube from inside the pen. Show the pen to be otherwise empty. Re-assemble the pen and hand it to the spectator. Place the small gold tube around the bill. In a blink, the spectator's bill disappears. Open the pen. Inside the pen is a bill. Cleanly remove the bill and hand it to the spectator. Show your hands otherwise empty. When the spectator unrolls the bill, it is the very same bill that she signed earlier.

I actually love this and use this all of the time. Every time I show other magicians this they all want one. I have changed the handling which came with this, but this is something we should all do with every effect we purchase!

Pros...Easy to do and a great bit of workmanship has gone into making this prop. The pen is also instantly reset to go again, which for me is a must.

Cons...Once set you can only borrow a bill that matches the gimmick, this though is just a small detail in which a little audience management wouldn't sort out.

Great looking impromptu effect with a 'James Bond' type gimmick disguised in an ordinary looking pen!

My personal advice is to stay away from this one. I bought it because it is identical to the John Cornelius "Perfect Pen". I have used the Perfect Pen many times and I am very happy with it. However, "Signed Bill to Pen" is very different.

I have owned this for 3-4 years or perhaps longer and each year I get it back out to see if I have failed to read something correctly in the instructions. I have been doing magic for 43 years and the bottom line, this illusion is impossible to do as the instructions describe. It simply will not work. I paid $35.00 for it when I bought it and it has NEVER been used. Stay away.
