Last night I ran into an old pal, and his girlfriend. He related to her, that I perform magic, and I mentioned a new venue I was asked to perform at. I then slipped into, 'you know, there's something I've been playing around with...', and I took out two quarters, and showed them to the girlfriend who I'd never met before. She was already smiling, knowing I was about to perform a trick. After putting one quarter away normally, she started to guess I had two back in my hand ( I love when I do NOTHING and spectators try to out guess me, by stating an outcome that they THINK i have performed! I trick them, without having done anything, for they fill in the blank with their minds!)
Then, I put the second quarter away, and again I asked, 'how many quarters in my hand?' 'Uh...TWO...no...NONE!'
'Correct!', I said while revealing the cute little nun in my hand. The women's reaction was priceless, the kind of girlish delight,
that I often catch glimpses of when performing for 'grown women.' She was truly tickled by this trick, which requires no set up, and can be done at a moments notice. While I do perform various punchlines with a two quarter routine (they change to a half, or two giant quaretrs), the use of NUN, consistently gets the most laughs. It is SUCH a delightful surprise, and so playful, that I always carry it in one of my many pockets. The instructions relate Michael Mode's meetings with Billy McCombical , who apparently had a BALL with this trick. Get one, use it, and you'll see why!
