With the performer's back turned and completely away from the table top the routine begins: A normal deck of cards (really) is on top of the table, and a spectator freely selects a card and places it under the table's close up mat. Placing the rest of the deck in their pocket, they remember the card hidden under the mat, and the magic begins.
Remember, all this takes place with the performer's back turned and away from the table. "It would be impossible to know the card you selected card, but allow me to concentrate." Taking out a small, ungimmicked memo-pad from the drawer, the performer writes down his prediction on the top page and turn it over. The spectator removes the hidden card under the mat. The performer explains that he will turn the memo-pad over at the same time the spectator turns over the selected card.
Both the memo-pad and card are turned over and they are an IDENTICAL MATCH! Impossible magic! You've just read their mind! Now, get this:

I bought mine a few months ago and I love it!
Sadly when I recieved mine the mat was too small (it had been cut badly). But those lovely people from Hocus-Pocus kindly sent me another one which works perfectly.
With this table top you are able to Peek at what the person has written or drawn without going near the piece of paper that they drew on.
I personally like people to draw or write onto a stiff white card for the simple reason it stops people from folding it. I once asked some one to write a name down, tear it off the pad and slip it under the mat whilst my back was turned. To my horror when I went to peek at it I discovered that he had folded it in half first and I was unable to continue trying to 'read his mind'. Now with using the white card it stops them from doing this.
You might think that at $275 it's rather expensive but it is a limited edition! It's beautifully made and if you look at other closeup tables you will find that the $275 is far off the mark.
As I said it is beautifully made and I have put mine onto a Tripod Stand but I've awarded it half a star short is because it is quite heavy to cart around!
If you haven't got one now then you might not be able to so. Get them while you can. This is one investment that you will use for years to come.
