Yes, it uses a gimmick, but a very neat, and durable one. I took it out of my close-up stuff for a while because I couldn't remember the sequence of moves when it comes to the time. After skimming the directions once more, it all came back to me.
If you want something that VISUALLY changes right in front of the volunteer's eyes, this is a strong answer to that. AND, the volunteer keeps the signed card, ion which their freely chosen time appears on.
