D.I.E.

Sirus Magic

Premium Magic Store

(Based on 1 review)
A spectator's card is chosen randomly, by the throw of a paper dice. They can throw as many times as they like. When they are happy with the number, they will count from a deck, to that number, to choose a card. When they have their card, they will be very surprised to find, that the dice was influencing them the whole time, without realizing, The Die itself, when unfolded, is made from a matching duplicate of the card they "freely" choose!
Based on a revamped 30+ yr old principle, this simple (for the performer) yet effective principle allows the spectator or any number of spectators to get involved, seemingly do all the work, and yet still create a miracle revelation at the end of the effect.

Comes with 2 different gimmicks to allow for repeat or multiple performances without having to always have the same outcome.

Gimmicks pack flat and take up very little room in your case or wallet.

With no special decks this super effect can be performed anywhere that has a deck of cards as long as you have your special dice at the ready.

Overview

D.I.E. by Sirus Magic and Premium Magic Store is a card revelation with a unique prop, which is a folded die. It was Bob Ostin who originated the idea of a foldable die, however it was later printed in Life, Death and Other Card Tricks by Robert Neale. Although the method may seem obvious to intermediate and experienced card magicians, its simplicity may be overlooked by the participants with some time misdirection and glib dialogue.

Effect

The performer shuffles a deck of card in front of the spectators. He produces a folded paper die and asks one of the spectators to roll the die three times. After each roll, the performer deals down the number of cards that shows up on the die. After the third roll, the dealt down cards are placed back on top of the deck and on the guise of feigning that a magician can’t be trusted he asks the participant to re-deal the cards, putting aside the last card dealt at the totaled number. The arrived at card is turned over. After three questions as to whether the felt influenced by the cards, the magician or the die, the folded die is opened up and turned front to back and the inside portion of the die, matches their dealt down card.

Method

The method involves a preprinted and pre-scored gimmicked die / card. The card dealt is forced with a count and recount which is the most tenuous part of the trick. The trick itself is self-working and it easily falls within the realm of a rank beginner. There are no sleights involved, and it is simplicity personified.

Product Quality

What you receive are two foldable dice allowing you for two different revelations. The foldable dice are made from a plasticized card stock and appear to be able to last for quite a while. The instructional video is ½ hour long which not only has the instructions for the routine but four live performances, one in the studio and three “real world” conditions. The instructions ran for a quarter of the entire length of the video and is clear enough that you wouldn’t have to sit through all live performance (unless you wanted to). There is an issue logging on to the video. The password is printed incorrectly; you must use all upper case for your password.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is accurate however you have to decide if two paper dice are worth $34 to you.
