Overview

If you have been in magic the last few years you probably came across an acronym EDC. EDC is an abbreviation for Every Day Carry. As far as magicians are concerned, it infers that proponents of EDC regularly carry specific “magic props” on their person to perform with. I usually meet with 2 to 3 other magicians weekly and we meet in a location that is equidistant from where we all live. The only place where we can sit at a table, buy a coffee or tea and spend a fair amount of time without being ousted is a McDonalds. Watching the mixed bag of clientele at the McDonalds we always discuss what the best EDC would be for that particular location. Well, Tenyo has solved our problem. Magical Burger not only allows you the opportunity to perform three different routines but reflects the very place where you could be performing it. Magical Burger is a cute, portable, funny and relatable trick that would entertain a wide variety of ages and demographics. By the way, the trick works equally well in a Burger King, Checkers, Wendy’s or any other fast food restaurant.

Effect

From a small vinyl holder, the performer removes 10 silver dollar sized discs. The backs are all the same color but on the fronts there are pictures of ingredients to build a hamburger. There are buns, pieces of meat, pickles, onions, egg, lettuce etc. Two buns are removed and one patty of meat and placed on the table. The discs are turned over, mixed up and the spectator is asked to remove one ingredient, not show it to the performer and add it to the basic burger on the table. The spectator is then asked to imagine tasting this burger and then the performer reveals the added ingredient. “I know, you made an onion burger”. The performer was correct. This is one of three possible presentations.

Method

The three tricks utilize some basic card handling skills. A person with an average skill set can present these. Since the handlings are so basic, it leaves a wide berth for some personality to be thrown in. If you are performing for strangers as you show the ingredients, you can get to know them by asking what their perfect burger would be.

Product Quality

Like any other Tenyo product, it is unique and clever. The English instructions have to be downloaded and printed out. The printed is fair at best. On a standard sized page there is some difficulty reading the instructions due to the size of the font. As far as the “cards” go, the printing is clear and the ingredients are well presented. They even have the names such as “onion” on it in English and Japanese. Tenyo thoughtfully provided a small ‘wallet” to carry the cards in which is a very nice touch. The package as a whole is very good.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is accurate and anyone who hangs out with friends at a fast food restaurant will probably get some giggles taking out this cute and entertaining trick.
