Overview

Devour by Sansmind is a cute routine that will play well with just about any audience. Unlike most find-a-card tricks, Devour has an interesting premise, a cute story and a completely unexpected ending. If you don’t mind a bit if DIY and feel you want something other than the norm, give Devour a try.

Effect

A spectator chooses a card from a full deck and signs their name on the front. The performer places their card back into the deck and then shows them a picture of a monster on the back of the tuck box. With a shake the monsters mouth is agape and they are told he just devoured all the cards. That is all the cards but the one they chose. The box is opened and the contents spilled out, all the cards are chewed up but theirs.

Method

There is a lot going on with this trick. To perform this, you will need make couple of gimmicked tuck cases, an ordinary deck of cards, several cut up cards, some supplies and a bit of time. In addition, you will have to have access to several pockets to make a couple of deck and card box switches. And finally, you will need the creativity and talent to tell a story, at least a small one.

Product Quality

The DVD provided is very well made. The production quality is excellent and the DIY instructions is presented and a reasonable pace. Everything is covered by the DVD itself. The supplies provided are ones which you may have difficulty finding as well as custom printed stickers. The supplies not included are those most will have if they were involved in magic even for a short period of time such as four playing card tuck cases.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is written well but it does leave out some important pieces of information which would have been nice to know. The first is that this is a DIY project and if you aren’t handy it is best to avoid. The second is that there will be a number of items to carry and ample, loose and easily accessible pockets are a must. So that means a jacket of some sorts to switch out decks.
