Magician, Pickpocket and Hypnotist Ravi Mayar has released the follow up to his first DVD.
This is 'Collision Volume 2'; what organic magic is all about.
Ravi has a real knack for making use of normal, everyday objects as part of his repertoire. His tricks are highly visual, easy to do and they get great reactions in the real world.
It won't take you an age to competently perform Ravi's effects - invest a short time to practice and then you can deliver accomplished results without any complicated sleight of hand or unnecessary, complex routining. In short, you'll be amazing people before you know it!.
So what do you get?
Ring
A ten phase, powerhouse visual routine, done with just one ring. Each phase is modular leaving you the opportunity to do each phase, one phase or mix them up.
Damn Gum
Remove a piece of gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe. Simply change it into the inner wrap of the gum package; change it again into a full, store bought pack of gum. Take out a piece of gum, eat it or give the piece to your spectator.
S.C.T.B ( Signed Coin Thru Bill )
Borrow a bill, borrow a coin. Have the spectator sign the coin. Fold the bill in half and place the coin inside the bill. Crimp the coin inside the bill so the spectator can see the coin is in there - then, with just your finger tips, pull their signed coin through the bill.
Match
Take a match out of a match box and light it. Blow on the matchbox and the match goes out in the other hand. Take the match and bite off the burnt tip. Then 'spit blow' the end of the match back onto the matchstick - you'll see the burnt tip, back, on the slightly broken matchstick.
Minds Eye
Tell the spectator you have made a prediction and that you sent a text message of the prediction to your phone weeks before. Ask the spectator to think of a number between one and five. Show them the text message on your phone. The message will show a list of 5 money denominations and a facial feature next to each denomination. Whatever number the spectator chooses, that denomination is produced from thin air and the facial feature next to the chosen denomination vanishes from the bill. WAIT! It also vanishes from the text message on your phone. Show them the text message with the missing facial feature next to their chosen denomination.
Residue
Borrow a coin from a spectator. Display both your hands to show that they are empty. Place the coin into their hand instructing them to make a fist . Take out a lighter and wave it under their fist. The spectator then opens their hand to discover their coin is half burnt.
Instant Bartender
Borrow a coin from a spectator and change it into a miniature bottle of Vodka (or any other spirit). Now produce their coin from thin air and as have them believe the trick is over at this point. NOW, produce a can of Red Bull (or any other soft drink) from your empty hands.
Business Travel
Take two of your own business cards, fold them and place them inside each other. Slowly, with your finger tips, pull the inside folded card through the other one. Hand out your business cards. Great for self promotion!
CONTAC
Show both sides of two different flavoured Tictac boxes. Ask the spectator which flavour they prefer. Take one of the Tictac boxes and tap it against the other one and ONLY ONE of the preferred flavoured tictacs suddenly appears in the opposite flavoured Tictac box.

This is another Magic Tao product and while they have some pretty decent products that they have put out, this one misses the mark.
The first thing I want to point out is the menu layout. It is very unorganized because if you choose the Play All option, the introduction comes up without a warning, then you see a performance, followed by the explanation for that effect. This plays all the way through everything on the disc. If you choose to watch the performances only, or you can watch the explanations only. The separate explanation sections do not follow the same order as the performances-only section - very confusing. Further, if the explanation for an effect has more than one section, it takes you back to the sub-menu after each section.
The lighting and video were fantastic throughout, but the sound was horrible. During the performance section, the sound was loud at times but audible. During the explanation sections the sound was so low for most of it that it was hard to hear and understand what was being said. That was with all volume controls at 100% max settings. Also, there were random sounds like talking or white noise that popped in on the audio track from time to time. Except the performances on the street, the entire thing was shot in a room with cinder block walls. The folks at Magic Tao should think about putting some baffling on those walls or some other furniture in the room to help reduce the prominent echos.
I initially played this disc on my laptop and found that if I paused it for too long, it would freeze and I would have to eject it and start over again. Because of that I tried it in another computer and in a Sony DVD player - same thing on both of those. I am not sure if this will happen with every copy but it was very annoying.
The material on here is not earth-shattering stuff, but most of it is doable and Ravi does a great job at teaching everything and the ad copy is accurate.
That being said, there were some effects that required quite a lot of set up or a lot of time to set up for an effect that was relatively weak. One example is Minds Eye - it is a nice effect but it requires you to set up your phone, which for some can take a bit of time. There are certain parts of this particular effect that I think would make it better and more worthy of that effort if they were changed or left out.
S.C.T.B. (Signed Coin Through Bill) is a nice little effect that can be done surrounded if you are careful but because of the nature of the effect itself, it is best done for people in front of you because from any other angle, they will miss the effect.
Business Travel is a good way to introduce and hand out your business cards if you do not mind handing them out with folds in them. I like this one.

Contac is an interesting effect but I see absolutely no motivation for it - and it requires a timely preparation. Further, part of the preparation uses lighter fluid - not on the inside of the boxes but I would not want to hand these out for consumption if I were doing the effect.
Instant Bartender is a great idea and is my favorite item on the entire disc. If you think about this one a little, you can come up with a very nice variation on the theme to suit multiple situations.

That silver wrapper then becomes an entire packet of gum from which you remove a piece for yourself, or to give to a spectator. First of all I would not want to touch gum that was on the bottom of my shoe, let alone restore it and put it in my mouth, or give it to someone else to do the same. Of all the items on this disc requiring preparation, this one is probably the least time consuming. There is no crediting to speak of on the DVD and like the other Magic Tao DVDs I have seen, this one ends just as abruptly as it began.
As I said before, all in all the methods are doable but they are relatively weak, save for a couple of them. For the material I think the $25/USD price tag is fair - I certainly would not pay any more than that for it.
