When Mike sent me his idea for A card at any number I was shocked at the creative, super clean handling he had created.
X-act is direct, killer magic that you will love to perform. You will love the method almost as much as the reactions you will get, when you perform X-act.
Comes complete with all the special props you require, plus two knockout handling's.
Handling one
A card inside an envelope is placed on the table next to a deck of cards. The spectator asks for any number from 1 to 52. The deck is removed from the card case. The cards are dealt face up one at a time until you reach their selected number. The card is removed from the envelope it matches the card at their number.
Handling two
It gets no cleaner than this. A playing card is laid face down on a spectators hand. (no envelope) The spectator names any number from 1 to 52. The deck is removed from the card case. You deal the cards face up one at a time, finally arriving at the chosen number. Its hard to believe, they turn the card over in their hand. I think you have guessed the rest.

Defending X-Act
There are very few card master magicians. Too many card magicians today just want to show off. They're less about entertaining and more about "Look what I can do with cards!" The really good ones have put a lot of time and hard work into convincing their audience what they are seeing is truly miraculous. X-Act is like a short cut; the same desired result but without the hours of practice. So what happens to the card handler’s pride if some low brow hack, or the pimply kid next door starts to effectively perform a variation of their most cherished, hard earned effect (ACAAN), but with a crutch or some other shortcut like X-Act? Many are going to be pissed. They’re going to poo-poo the effect. They’ll call it lame and say its crap and not good magic.
And this is exactly why I think X-Act is receiving such poor reviews. X-Act is an insult to card magicians and card magic in general. To which all I can say is, “Get over it!” If you want to show off card skills then yes, X-Act sucks, but if you sincerely wish to entertain your audience then X-Act delivers big time.
X-Act is awesome! It is so exceptionally cool to place an envelope on the table and announce that you will now “force” the spectator to choose the predicted card inside the envelope. The spectator freely calls out any number from 1 to 52. When she does, cards that are in full view the entire time are removed from the deck, and counted out (face up) to her exact number. For added effect, it is underscored and clearly shown how all the cards (before and after her selection) are different and that if the spectator had said any other number a different card would have turned up. From there it is a simple matter of opening the envelope and revealing the matching prediction! Every one (including magicians) are blown away - every single time!
• Is X-Act hard to learn? No.
• Does X-Act require hours of practice? No.
• Does X-Act require dexterity? Well, it helps if you have a thumb, but no, not really.
• Does X-Act make you look like a skilled card magician? Yes.
• Does X-Act piss card magicians off? Yes, apparently so.
• Do you even care? No, not one iota.
X-Act has been so successful that Mark Mason told me it paid for his house! It paid for his house! Sorry Cardigans, but a one star / no star trick cannot do that! If you’re a card manipulator then yes, X-Act is an obvious cheat, and a one-time use for a deck (a con for some to be sure). On the other hand, if you’re like me and not fond of card magic, but want something that will really “WOW” your audience every single time, then disregard the negative reviews. X-Act is great!

PROS
It is a cleverly gimmicked ACAAN method. That’s the PRO. The rest is really CONs.

This is a tremendous amount of gimmicks for really not that strong of an ACAAN. First off, it’s not really an ACAAN, because it is not “any card”. It is your prediction card at any number.
The prediction card cannot be examined… not good.
The method, while full of gimmicks, also requires you to do math calculations in your head… not good.
VERDICT
There are so many ACAAN effects. I feel like I should recommend something, so if you want a really terrific ACAAN effect, get “Three Card Routines” by Asi Wind and check out his routine called AACAAN. This will take a bit of practice, but it is tremendously good.

I'm just not crazy about this effect. It's a gimmicky, magnetic version of ACAAN (like there aren't enough of them out there). It's overpriced and there are too many "glitches" with this. I mean . . . Barrie Richardson's "Impromptu Card At Any Number" uses a regular deck of cards and can be performed with no magnets or mathematical figuring (that you have to use with "X-Act" -- which sounds really easy to do until you're performing it live for real people). I feel like I wasted $45.00.
