Rubber Thruhand is a quick and visual rubberband effect where the band is wrapped around your hand before visually penetrating your fingers one digit at a time.
The Ad Copy has no issues, the rubberband is ordinary, there’s no preparation required and you can even show both sides of your hands after each penetration.
The teaching on the video is clear and easy to follow, the main effect is taught well and if you follow along you’ll be able to perform it quite well after some practice.
The method itself is clever and what I like about it is how easy it is to do and get into. You can choose to show the penetration happening, or hide it behind your fingers, and given that you have 4 fingers where the penetration happens, there’s room to escalate the effect and you go from digit to digit. The ad copy mentions that you can show the front and back of your hands empty, while not necessary, it certainly aids in the method.
There are a couple of variations taught which provide you with other visual phases, but I personally found them a bit too fiddling and like the main handling better. The effect ends with the penetration of the index finger, and Dan mentions you can then move onto the classic penetration through thumb (which I do), or any other rubberband effect. The trick definitely benefits from the thumb penetration or another follow up trick to give the trick a definitive ending outside of the 4 finger penetrations so it’s a shame they didn’t teach or some up with something for the 5th finger.
I like the trick but feel like it’s more of a quick and visual piece to put inbetween bigger effects. It doesn’t get strong reactions but it’s interesting enough to have on hand if you want to show someone something quick and for some reason only have one rubberband.
