Overview
Let’s Swap a Card by Vincenzo Di Fatta is an inexpensive, simple but yet doable trick, that proves yet again that magic does not have to be expensive to provide a magical moment. Although experienced performers may turn their nose up at such a simple plot, Let’s Swap a Card, as well as other tricks in the Di Fatta line, provide opportunity for budding magicians to get real world experience performing and honing their craft without breaking the bank.Effect
The magician takes out a small packet of 8 cards and shuffles them. He divides the 8 card packet in half and hands face down one of the 4 card packets to a participant. They are then to place the cards behind their back. After which, they are then instructed to mix the cards and remove a card from their packet and exchange it face down with each other. When they receive their new card, place it face up on their packet. When the packets are revealed, it appears that by some coincidence they both chose the odd card out of the four.Method
There are only 8 cards and none are gimmicked. The trick requires no sleight of hand and capitalizes on the participant and spectators to assume a sequence of events that do not actually happen. The trick depends on one of the pillars of magic called presupposition. In this case, the presupposition that the cards are fairly mixed, equally divided and randomly distributed is the method.Product Quality
The cards provided are Bicycle cards so there are no quality issues there. The instructions are printed on poster size paper and well worded and illustrated. The illustrations are in color and are extremely easy to follow.Ad Copy Integrity
Unfortunately the effect in the ad copy is describing a different trick. This is not a rising card effect as it is described.
The effect is as I described prior. Although the ad copy is incorrect, it does not diminish the value offered.
