This book, contains two effects, which are variations on one theme: a Queen gets penetrated by another card. Both effects require some technical preparation on the part of the performer, which, in my view, is utterly worth it. Effect number one, can be integrated into a regular deck. It's so clever, as the queen that gets openly penetrated, can then be shown closely, even examined. The one 'guilty' card would need to be slipped in and out of the deck, if the performer wishes to continue with additional card effects.
The second effect, is a packet effect. As Britland humorously describes it, a cabinet and lady effect with cards...because cards are cheaper than a cabinet, which I can't afford right now-that sort of patter. I find this second version more effective, as it lives separately from the deck,
is more deviously configured than the first trick, and the penetration itself is partially screened by another card. It has the same general optical illusion premise as Geoff William's 'I Hate David Copperfield' trick (a new handling of the Larry Jennings classic 'close up illusion'). It takes a bit more work to make up this second trick, but, if you have steady hands, an x-acto knife, and some tape, you'll have a sweet pocket illusion to carry in your wallet. For the price, low in my opnion, you get two very visual effects, which are actually fun to make as well.
