This looks like a pretty good TV trick. It’s only pretty good because while it will withstand slow motion repeated viewings, the performer’s crotch is in the background.
That was the most positive thing I could say about this product. The gimmick comes disassembled, and the DVD shows you how to make it. The DVD itself is just awful. The text runs off screen in the menu, and throughout the rest of the DVD. It makes navigating the menu confusing, it makes instructions unclear, and it makes the overall product look even cheaper.
The lighting is really strange throughout. The construction portion of the DVD takes way too long listing the basic materials. Just a simple list would have gotten the job done, but it would have probably run off screen as well.
The effect itself is pretty good. It’s visual, quick, and again, looks great on a camera. The reason this is most suitable for a camera is that the cards are gimmicked, and after an amazing transformation like this, people are going to want to examine the cards.
The complex gimmick construction and the fact you end dirty makes me consider dozens of effects like this that are simpler, and so much better for live performance.
There are thousands of card effects on the market. I can think of several effects for TV that has your face in the background instead of the floor. Other than getting a cool five second trick for TV to be used as filler, I see absolutely no reason why you should spend your money on this.
