This is one of those simple effects that can either play big or flop. If you take a look at the suggestions section, I will share an idea to make this really play big.

The effect is super easy to do, and it resets instantly. The instruction is good.

CONS

You can’t have the deck examined, but you can show it in a controlled way. The DVD explains a very strong way to show the entire deck fairly.

The effect did not come with the required cards. You can easily and pretty inexpensively purchase what you need to make the gimmicked deck. However, you are going to have to wait until you get this effect in order to know what you need.

VERDICT

This is a really strong effect with very good methods throughout.

Suggestions

This effect really lends itself well to using more than one participant select the card and another participant to hold the card. If you do mentalism, this is perfect. You get one participant to sit on stage. You go through a process of getting them into a mental state of heightened imagination. You can set up the effect talking about we use our imagination to vividly fill in gaps. Advertisers use people’s imaginations to give attributes to products that you wouldn’t normally have. For example, they can make a car seem sexy. You can use imagination exercises to make your life better, to make yourself more successful or thinner. We are going to do an experiment. Have the single participant sit on a chair, close their eyes, and relax. Have them imagine a blank screen in front of them. Then, go through the selection process as described in the DVD, but use a different audience member for each selection. After each selection, ask the participant on stage or in front of the audience to change what they are imagining, for example, from a blank screen to a red screen, to a giant heart, to several hearts, to a card that resembles their card. Hand them their card and have them hold the card face down as you show the audience the entire deck is blank. Then, have them turn over their card. Take their card and place it into the deck and show all the cards blank but their card, using the method taught in the DVD.

One more thought: You can use a corner short card for the second display of the blank deck.

The production quality of the DVD is high. You get to see Oz perform this on the street for many people. You also get a clear understanding of how to perform the effect.

This is Kenton Knepper’s Kolossal Killer meets Dean Dill’s Blizzard and has a child. I remember many years ago I performed Dean Dill’s Blizzard and stopped doing so after a couple of months because of the overhead/pocket space this effect cost. Colossal Blizzard takes care of that problem. You will only need one deck. I really like this one.

It is clean and you end (relatively) clean. The advertisement is accurate and it is fun to perform. I have done so for a few people as of this writing. The DVD will give you many ideas for handling and alternative presentational ideas. I like this effect because good performers will easily find ways to morph this effect to fit their character and presentational style.

For the mentalist it offers a nice straight forward, use your intuition and eliminate cards until just one remains in your mind. When the effect is completed you can show that the entire deck is blank and the only card that is printed is the one they “fairly” eliminated to.
