It was a particular pleasure to watch Harry Lorayne work in front of, and handle, an audience. It's true: When Harry Lorayne teaches on camera, it's almost as if he's sitting with you in your own living room, helping you, guiding you. It will be hard for you to decide which you enjoy more - the performances or his explanations.
As he teaches a particular routine, he also teaches each sleight, each move, the psychology, the attitude. Watching Harry Lorayne is watching impromptu close-up magic at its best.
Each and every effect, idea, routine in this entire series can be done with a borrowed deck of cards.
You'll be thrilled by Harry Lorayne's performing/teaching ability, by his judgment, selectivity, attention to detail. He never abandons you; whatever he teaches, he teaches thoroughly. He walks you through it hand in hand.
Be prepared to sit, watch, enjoy - and learn!

PROS
Halo Aces is possibly the best Ace production ever. In the three volumes, Harry teaches many great card routines.
For someone known for his rapid fire way, he really does a great job explaining each move thoroughly.
The effects can nearly all be done surrounded.
The difficulty level ranges from beginner to more advanced. His famous Halo Aces could be done by a beginner with a bit of practice.
CONS
Harry’s performance is non-stop rapid fire. That may be difficult for other’s. However, he teaches a great volume of great card magic that you could incorporate into your own style. There is much to learn from his patter. Harry presents himself as someone proud of perfecting routines over many decades. There is something to be learned about how he builds himself up in the eyes of an audience without being condescending.
Harry can be a bit rough with audience members, in a sort of New York direct style. However, he pulls it off in a way that perhaps others may not be able to.
VERDICT
These are a great set of DVDs with some of the best card routines ever. Highly recommended.
