Well, Daniel Madison is kind of hit and miss with me. Sometimes I find a small nugget in his work but his over all style is not really to my tastes.

One is a set of lecture notes on card magic. Let's go through trick by trick.

CAMEO: This is a multi-phase sandwich routine. To me sandwich routines are a dime a dozen. This routine has some unique bits but for the most part I find the handling to be a little convoluted for my taste. I feel like there are better sandwich routines available elsewhere. He teaches a move here called the turnover pass. It really doesn't have anything to do with the classic sleight by the same name. In fact it really isn't a "pass" at all.

LAPSE: This is a transposition of a card in the pocket and another card. It is an okay trick with an interesting variation of the riffle force. I don't know if I will use it but it is interesting. It is one of those sleights that I swear I have seen before bot alas I don't know where.

MONTE SONATA: This is his version of the 2 card monte made popular by David Blaine. I think that there are some serious issues with this version but I do like the idea of trying to perform this trick without the deck. So while I like the thinking Madison fails to deliver a solid answer to the problem.

SELECTIVE: This is not really an any card at any number routine. It is a predicted card at a selected number. Madison has a good premise for this effect and routines it well. You learn a funky way to force a card that works. Over all this is a nice routine although I wouldn't really call it an ACAAN.

HERITAGE: Versions of this have been published in other places online by Daniel Madison. It requires a couple bold moves but I really like it. Basically the spectator is able to predict the missing card from a specific poker hand. The premise is cool and I like that you can routine it with Selective if you wish.

COMPLETE: This is a fun premise but it requires a very difficult handling. I might use the premise in conjunction with Dai Vernon's add on but the handling he uses is very bold.

180: This is a bit of a mess. He tries to explain a psychological force. It should be said that I love psychological forces. I have created some and use them all of the time. The idea behind a force is to make the spectator think of something specific without knowing that you led them to think it. In this force you practically have to tell them that you are going to force a card on them if they follow your exact instructions. I could see you using the script he provides as a pseudo-explanation of a trick but not the actual method. You do learn a suitable out though.

FATHER FIGURE: Yet another attempt at a psychological force. This one is a bit more simple and I can actually see it happening, at least for those who are familiar with a deck of cards. Although it still seems fairly transparent.

Fatal: This is a cool idea that is very similar in plot to Darwin Ortiz's Dream Card. A card from another deck is shown as your prediction and it becomes the spectators signed card.

SCRIPTURE: This is, for me, the best effect in the notes. A selected card disappears from the deck and appears inside the pen that a spectator is holding. I have worked this into my walk around routine. It is basically a card to impossible location that happens in the spectators hand. It is very strong. I changed the handling to my liking but the basic premise is still intact.

UNDER THE INFLUENCE: This is basically a 4 card production. I have a couple that I already use but this is just fine and it has a premise that might fit some performance styles.

Over all you get a whole bunch of filler with a couple good moves. For me I loved the premise of Scripture so much that it was worth the price. Perhaps there will be something for you too but for the most part I would not recommend these notes.
