Yes. I got one of these in one of Marshall Brodien's T.V. magic kits when I was a boy. Yes, it's one of those 'kid-kit' tricks that, despite OUR familiarity with them...there are plenty of folks young and old, who were never into magic, and have never seen this trick! These 'same' people, believe it or not, have never met one of crazy cube's cousins, the imp bottle (my first store bought trick). What more can I say except that this trick WORKS! ON ADULTS! It unfortunately gets overlooked I KNOW, because it usually lives on the Adam's novelty rack, which many of us abandoned when we grew up and into more complex effects and routines. Go back to the phrase IT WORKS!
Years ago, Eddie Fields published a booklet entitled Artful Dodges. Now, crazy cube was not covered in this book, but yet another 'kid effect' was= 'color vision'! Not only did Fields tip his handling, but he includes Ed Marlo's version, which lifts 'color vision' to a much higher plane. More recently, Mikame took it even higher. Clearly, there is much value to be found in an effect like this, inexpensive and made of plastic as it is. It also HAS to be made of plastic, because the material is PART OF the deception...it wasn't just 'make this out of plastic because it's cheaper'.
(did I mention that IT WORKS?!)
