Now you too can perform this beautiful and visual stunner exactly as it has been shown on television - right from the Doug Henning special in the early eighties to more recent magic specials.
Effect
The magician cleanly displays a thoroughly mixed Rubik's Cube puzzle on all six sides. There is no question that puzzle is completely mixed. The cube is tossed into the air and INSTANTLY (and visibly), the puzzle solves itself! Once again, the cube is shown all around and in a matter of seconds, right in front of the watchful eyes of your audience, you have reset trick ready for your next performance!
This visual stunner can be performed up close for one person or on stage for 1,000.
Comes complete with a specially doctored genuine Rubik's Cube puzzle, a display stand, and detailed, illustrated instructions.

I've been intrigued by this effect ever since I first saw it in the 80s. I've seen more variations on the presentation than I can remember. I think that's one of the reasons I like it so much: it really requires a story to be more than just a puzzle. My favorite routine, created by my friend David Hirata places the Rubik's Cube as the turning point in our evolution from ape to man.
The other thing I love about this effect is that it uses a prop that most people are familiar with. Not only that, just the sight of it invokes an emotional response from anyone that's every played with one. It could be a memory of earlier times, of intense frustration, or of accomplishment for those few that learned to solve the damned thing.
The method requires no skill, unless you accidentally mess up the cube. Read the directions first! It's also something that can be played for one person or a large audience. The large sides with their solid colors will show up in even the largest theaters.
You get a real Rubik's Cube that's been altered slightly to produce the magical effect. The instructions fit nicely on a single, double-sided sheet of paper.
Simple and effective. I love it!
