Overview

Titan by Nicholas Lawrence and The Other Brothers is a quick one minute trick that can launch your close up set with a surprising start. I have struggled with several releases by The Other Brothers due to quality issues, conceptual issues and instructional issues and had not expected much of this release when I received it to review. However, I am happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and more importantly the presentational aspect which was solid and well thought out as well.

Effect

The performer takes out a deck a cards and removes one card for a participant to sign. The signed card is placed standing up supported by the card box. On the back of another card he draws a small symbol such as a star and leaves that card on top of the deck. With a quick riffle the card which was originally signed falls face down and the drawn star which was once on the back of the card in the deck, jumped to the back of the signed card. The card on the deck is completely clean with no drawing on it at all. A nice quick magical intro.

Method

If anyone knows the work of Nicholas Lawrence, they know that there is a gimmick involved. In addition to the necessary gimmick, there is some basic card handling skills involved which anyone interested in card magic could handle.

Product Quality

The gimmick provided is exceptionally made. It appears to be durable under normal performing conditions and should last a very long time. The “setup” is extremely flexible. The drawn item can be a symbol such as a star or a word such as magic. It is up to the personality and persona of the performer as to what will appear on the participant’s chosen card. The instructional video is a single camera shoot and is 32 minutes long. It covers the basic routine and handling as well as offering up several other performance options. The video is well lit, the sound and instructional pace is good and easy to follow.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy can’t be any more honest as it says right in the first paragraph that it is a flap gimmick. Like any card gimmick that is multi-layered, expect some angle issues and hold the deck accordingly. The effect looks as it is performed in the trailer and the gimmick couldn’t have been made any better. It is clean as a whistle.
