Blistering

La Torre, Alex

Vanishing Inc.

(Based on 1 review)
Cause a piece of gum to magically jump to four different portions of the hermetically sealed packet. If you are looking for visual magic to perform live or for a camera, this is ten seconds of sheer magic. It's not just a clever trick for video though; it's a practical and workable attention grabbing trick. What's more, at the end, you can immediately hand out the package for examination.

There's no assembly required. You receive a precision-made gimmick and will be ready to perform at a moment's notice .Easy to do. Fully examinablePre-made gimmick included: Online instructions running time: 22 mins approx.

Well, in my haste to write this review, it was not going to be very complimentary but I quickly changed my mind which was quite a surprise to me. Once you get into this you will understand.

When I first watched the demo video, I was quite impressed with the visuality of this effect especially that it was not just another card, coin or elastic trick. Yes, there are other ‘candy/gum’ effects out there but this one really grabbed my attention. You will be able to perform exactly what you see in the demo but what you can also do which is not in the demo is actually give the piece of gum to the spectators still sealed in the plastic packaging. The online video tutorial is over 22 minutes long and very well produced, filmed with close-ups and very clear and concise instructions by Alex. This effect is very good for small parlor or Zoom shows, however is not great for restaurant table hopping.

So why did I change my mind, here is why. When I watched the tutorial on how to use the gimmick once purchasing the gum all I need to do was go shopping to buy the gum or thought I would. To my dismay I could not find the specific gum and packaging I needed to do this. Well easier said than done. I went to a total of eight different places - grocery stores, gas stations and Dollar stores (in Florida) and NOBODY sold the gum packaging that is needed to do this trick. Any of the brands I found using ‘blister packaging’ including the brand shown in the demo (they changed their packaging) has square gum and not rectangular gum as needed or does not have the foil backing. Now what? So, I went back to re-watch the video tutorial and watched past the learning tutorial this time to find a complete section on how to make your own gimmick. Eureka! Alex shows step by step how to make your own gimmick so now I can go back and buy the square gum with the foil backing and with some minor modifications be able to pull this off. It is easy to do with some practice of course and the gimmick as mentioned is included, you just need to ‘find' the specific gum and packaging used by Alex or make your own custom gimmick.

All in all I would rate Blistering high but am dropping the star value a bit due to the fact I could not and you may not be able to find the right gum to use as presented by Alex or completely have to make another gimmick.
