During a card routine of your choice you show an envelope that came with a mail shot you received in the post. Inside is a free sample of a playing card.

Unbelievably, this is the spectators signed (or thought of) card!

No palming required.

Specially designed and printed gimmick supplied for this routine!

PROS

The ambitious card routine is a classic among classics. So many performers have an ambitious card routine and it is so versatile, there are millions of ways to perform this effect. I have my version of the ambitious card routine that ends with my version of the ACAAN routine. However, card to impossible location is one great way to end an ambitious card routine. This effect provides an excellent card to impossible location ending.

The effect is true to the ad copy. What you see in the trailer video is what you get with their card to your junk mail card to impossible location. They don’t teach the phases of the ambitious card routine that lead up to the ending involving the gimmicked mail, but hopefully you realize that the effect is the phase involving the gimmicked mail.

The gimmick is very well made. It also seems to me that the gimmick appears to be real junk mail, I would think in most any English speaking country. The effect was developed in the UK, but I found it quite acceptable as “junk” mail for the US.

CONS

While I don’t see this as a negative, you should know that they don’t teach the various phases shown in the trailer video. They only teach the phase that involves the gimmick.

I would think the gimmicks will last a very long time, but the junk mail and the gimmicked playing card are made of printed thick stock paper and playing card stock. While they are sturdy and well made, they will eventually become worn. You could continue to use them worn, but you aren’t likely going to be able to make your own replacement gimmick.

I really think you should consider whether you want something so bulky for your ambitious card routine. I personally prefer not to use any bulky card to impossible location as my Ambitious Card routine ending is my version of ACAAN. It can be done with any deck at any time.

While we are on the subject of Ambitious Card routines, it seems to me that the cutting of the cards after they put their selected card in the middle of the deck is a poor method. If the card is in the middle and the deck is cut somewhere in the middle, then the card is no longer going to be lost in the middle, right? I think this telegraphs something fishy. I personally prefer to use a key card that allows the deck to be squared up with their card “lost” in the middle. They can cut the deck a couple times and they can see that the card is not anywhere on top or in the middle.

VERDICT

Very nice ending to the Ambitious Card routine. It does involve this bulky bit of junk mail, so I would suggest you come up with what you think is a good strong ambitious card routine and if this fits into your desired routine, rest assured this product is good quality.
