Mona Lisa Van Gogh
Karr, Todd
The Miracle Factory
Perfect comedy magic for the close-up or stand-up performer!
Great audience participation with a touch of elegance!
The performer asks a volunteer to assist, saying that he believes they share the same taste in fine art. The magician shows the other spectators a small reproduction of the Mona Lisa as a prediction and sets it aside.
Now the magician says he will give the volunteer a free choice of several other famous paintings. The spectator doesn't see that they're all Mona Lisas, making the performer's success a certainty. The other audience members are in on the joke and laugh as they see that the paintings are all the same.
The volunteer chooses a painting and announces that the artist is... Van Gogh! The puzzled performer turns over the spectator's choice... it is indeed a scary-looking Van Gogh self-portrait.
The magician flips over his prediction. It's changed to the same Van Gogh, ending the routine successfully!
- Sure-fire laughs
- Beautiful reproduction paintings
- Elegant drawstring bag
- Magician's wax included

The effect: Beautiful Art Meets McCombical Prediction. This is the same effect except you're using classic paintings and magician's wax instead of playing cards and rough and smooth.
The cards are postcard sized and are beautifully made. They come in a velvety smooth velvet bag much like the velvety smooth pillow covers upon which I sleep and have Sweet Dreams (Thank you Patsy Cline). By the way, I normally don't use phrases like "upon which." I just needed a transition for the Random I-Tunes Song of The Moment.
Anyway, this is a beautiful effect with the potential for a lot of laughter and audience by play in the hands of the skilled performer. The instructions are minimal (2 half sheets of paper) but plenty to give you what you need.
I like this from the perspective that it pretty much forces you to put your own presentation to it rather than copying crap presentations that are so prevalent in today's sea of magic DVDs.
Final Thoughts
If you like the effect - I do - you'll love what you get. Everything is top quality and beautiful to look at. For the price you're getting a great deal.
Final Verdict:
5 Stars with a Stone Status of GEM.

That said, I don’t see the advantages of using weird mini paintings rather than an average, ordinary deck of cards that everyone in the audience has seen and handled. I personally, don’t see the need for producing these props, except to have something to sell.
However, if you like the description, and have a use for the effect, you’ll get your money’s worth.
