Overview

Snapped by Abstract Effects is yet another abstract effect. I’m always amazed at the dichotomy as to how different creators go to market. In some cases, you buy a packet trick and the quality of the package it comes in is so exquisite you want to put it on display. Conversely, other creators send their items out in the cheapest, thinnest and flimsiest envelopes they can buy. Well, for most of Abstract Effects, expect the latter. Unfortunately, when I received Snapped in the typical cheap black envelope, it didn’t have the typical tiny URL sticker so I wasn’t able to watch the instructional video.

Effect

By watching the trailer, Snapped is a quick visual disappearance of an object. On the trailer it shows object of various sizes disappearing instantly with an accompanying noise.

Method

The method utilizes a gimmick which is commonly found in the dollar store. I had seen something like this embedded in children’s neo-style snap type bracelets. When extended out it stays erect but with a light push the bracelet curls into a small circle.

Product Quality

In my package I received two gimmicks. One was similar to the candy commercial Justin Flomm did for Airheads and a blank device for you to design your own. The items appear to be made well and should last quite a while. Unfortunately, there seems to be a quality control situation at Abstract Effects because my package came without a link for the instructional. This isn’t the first time I received effects from The Other Brothers that had issues. Really, how hard is it for someone to make sure a lousy sticker is stuck on an envelope? At the price these guys charge for what they give you, one shouldn’t be inconvenienced to track down a tutorial.

Ad Copy Integrity

Although there will definitely have some angle issues, as you would with any trick like this, the performance should appear as the ad copy states. You would have to figure out the right time and place to perform this as it only last but a second.
