Shocking Pass Case 2024

Tenyo Co., Ltd.

(Based on 1 review)
The magician shows the transparent compartment of a wallet and inside it puts a white piece of paper after having folded it. He gives the transparent compartment a "snap" and take out the piece of paper that will now magically have writing on it! The same can be done with a playing card of hearts, for example, which will turn into a spades and for many more transformations in full sight!

FANTASTIC!

Overview

“Where does he get those wonderful toys?” asks the Joker in the 1989 Batman movie. Clever, quirky and curious are just some of many words that describe Tenyo magic products. For decades, magicians have had a love / hate relationship with these cheap toy like magic tricks. They sneer at the child like appearance of these little wonders but marvel at how clever they really are. Shocking Pass Case is another of those one trick wonders Tenyo released in their 2024 lineup. Shocking Pass Case probably is not the best title for this trick because the spectators do not get a shock as one might assume. The word surprising would be more appropriate. If you like odd, five second magic presentations, then give a look at Shocking Pass Case.

Effect

The performer displays a blank piece of paper. He proceeds to slowly and methodically fold it into a packet. The packet is then place inside of the clear window portion of what appears to be a wallet of some sort. With a flick of a finger the paper that was once blank, turns into a $100 bill (or any denomination you desire). Limited only by your imagination and the thickness of the object, many transformations can be done instantly.

Method

Like any other Tenyo trick, this one makes use of a gimmicked pass case (or wallet as we would say). The case is cleverly designed to rotate instantly at will. The mechanics to achieve the switch is not unlike the rotating bookcase you would see in horror movies, but much faster. The case has a double window section and the object to be transformed goes in the front and the object that will be the ending object is behind. The tension and force is provided by a rubber band.

Product Quality

The case is well made and you are supplied with extra rubber bands. The instructions are in Japanese but there is a place you can download the English instructions. The drawings and instructions are clear and easy to follow. There is a QR code and URL for a video that will show several other transformations you can do.

Final Thoughts

One might wonder (as I did), what purpose does this serve if the magic is only a second? With a bit of imagination one can transform an item, for example a paper coin into a real coin and then use the real coin for a coin routine. Another possibility is while at a diner or other eatery, tear of a section of a paper placemat, fold it into a packet and turn it into a tip for the server. With a bit of thinking, you might find this trick to be one of your go to effects
