PSI ROLLER

Michael Breggar; Kaymar Magic

Kaymar Magic Company UK

(Based on 3 reviews)
Michael Breggar (the creator of best sellers ART ATTACK and BAD BIKES) strikes again with the baffling 'Psi-Roller'.

You show a deck of cards, and then set a prediction face down on the table, before the trick starts. Next you bring out four different dice, each with a different number of sides (D4, D6, D8 and D10).

The spectator rolls the whole lot of dice, generating four random numbers, and then they choose one of them to place on top of the prediction card.

The same procedure is repeated three more times - each time the spectator rolling the dice, generating random numbers, and then consciously choosing one to place onto a face down prediction card, placed down before the dice were rolled.

The cards are carefully removed from underneath the cards, and flipped over...

ASTONISHINGLY, EACH CARD HAS THE SAME VALUE AS THE DICE THE SPECTATOR CHOSE TO PLACE ONTO IT!

Easy to do, includes the dice, bag and special 'something'. Just provide your own deck of Bicycle. You also receive video instructions with Liam's teaching, variations and bonus handlings!

Overview

Psi-Roller by Michael Breggar and Kaymar Magic is a pseudo prediction effect using some non-traditional dice and a deck of cards. The trick itself is very easy to do and although I wouldn’t call it a showstopper, it can be a nice intermediary effect. If you like to embellish you set with odd or unusual types of props, you only would be required to carry a small pouch with the gaming dice and one common card gimmick and you are set to go.

Effect

The performer produces a small felt bag with four gaming dice in it. He then takes the 10 sided die, waves his hand over it and picks up some form of vibrations which leads him to choose a playing card which is placed face down on the table. He then asks the participant to roll the die and whatever is rolled the die is placed on the face down card. The same procedure is followed using the eight sided, six sided and four sided dice. When all the rolling is complete the cards are turned over and the match what was rolled on each and every die.

Method

The method uses a traditional mentalism procedure coupled with a card gimmick and very minor sleight of hand. The routine is within the skill set of even a beginner with a little practice. The handling is basic but the procedure is so well thought out that its simplicity is glossed over.

Product Quality

There isn’t much to the entire trick. The dice are typical gaming dice of various colors. I personally would have liked them to be larger in size because the numbers a bit too small to read. However, a trip to a game store should resolve that issue if it bothers you. The gimmicked card is a Bicycle card so there are no quality issues there. As far as the instructional, it is sixteen minutes long and covers what is necessary. Liam Montier does a fine job explaining the trick but I find he does speak a bit too fast. The filming of the video is as basic as you could get which is a downshoot of the close-up mat and just his hands. It is a far cry from the Big Blind Media videos I am used to watching on but it covers what it needed.

The ad copy is minimal but accurate. You will need to provide your own deck.

I love everything Michael Breggar publishes. PSI roller is a clever and fun effect to present. I use it with 12 sided dice which makes it different for the audience. It is simple and It has high impact for the spectator. Totally recommended to amaze.

Overview

Four dice, 2 special cards, a smooth velvet dice bag, $25 bucks, 16 minutes of Liam Montier (always a treat), and 1 Psi-Roller magic review. Is it gem or is it rubble? Stay tuned to find out.

Effect

Watch the trailer, but here's the basics. You place a card on the table. The spectator rolls a die and places it on top of the card. This is repeated 3 more times (a total of four times). When the cards are turned over, the values are shown to match the values of the dice placed on them.

Method

A simple old-as-the-hills mentalism method, along with a special something extra. What Michael Breggar (the creator) has added to this old idea is the extra gimmick, and then there is something about the nature of the dice. Though un-gimmicked, they play a crucial role. The method is simple, straight forward and easy to do.

The only thing that "bugs" me a little is the moment the cards (watch the trailer) have to come in contact with the deck for a moment, but it still is super clean, and the right attitude and scripting can "fix" this "problem."

Product Quality

Nothing to see here. The dice are cool all on their own. That plus the bag, plus the extra something, and you're definitely getting your money's worth. That is, of course, assuming you like the effect. If you don't like it, why the heck are you even here!? Watch the trailer. The performance shown there is exactly what it will look like when you perform it. No hype, no fancy edits, no deceptive cuts, no overselling. Just plain honest advertisement.

The only goofy product quality issue was an editor mistake. In between each section, a title shows up in white text on a black screen. However, the name of the title in at least two of the sections was literally "title subtitle."

It's clear that they were using a template of some sort, and forgot to fill in the text. Funny. Not a "problem." Just funny.

The dice, bag, and extra something are each well-made. The video is well produced, and the teaching (as per usual with Mr. M) is clear, concise, and complete.

Ad Copy Integrity

Yep. What they say, and what you see is exactly what you get.

Final Thoughts

  • Effect:Good.

  • Method:Clever. Easy. Instantly resets.

  • Product Quality:Perfect.

  • Ad Copy Integrity:Honest. Accurate.

When things are "good" there's not much to say, is there? If you like the effect, you'll be 100% happy with your purchase.
Final Verdict:
5 stars with a Stone Status of Gem.
