Stand Up Assembly (Blue) Review

The effect is you take the four Aces from the deck and place one in a glass. The next three go on the floor under three participants shoes. Three indifferent cards go into the glass with the first Ace. With a magic gesture, the cards in the glass all turn into Aces and the three indifferent cards that went into the glass are now under the participant’s shoes. The beauty of the effect is they see the indifferent cards going into the glass one minute. The next minute, the cards in the glass have turned into Aces and the cards under their feet have turned into the same indifferent cards.

The effect comes with gimmicked cards. The gimmicks are very cleverly made. Because of the way they are gimmicked, they are super easy to use. They require no sleight of hand. There is sleight of hand required in certain parts of the routine.

The effect is true to the ad copy. It has a list of everything it is not (no double face cards, no double index cards, etc.). However, it does use gimmicked cards that are very well made and handle very well.

It comes with written instructions and a link to a video. The instructions leave much to be desired because..

Unfortunately, the video link downloads some sort of .rar file. I tried to download a .rar application and all I got was unwanted garbage loaded to my computer. I had to uninstall several unwanted services that wanted me to upgrade and pay monthly fees. Very frustrating. I spent a lot of time uninstalling these programs and deleted the Stand Up Assembly file. So, I was limited to the written instructions. They were not bad, but not entirely complete. I assume the video would have covered all the moves. The written instruction is on a single 8 ½ by 11 inch card stock and doesn’t cover all the moves.

In the presentation, you drop three cards on the floor and three participants step on a card each. There is a good chance you are going to destroy three cards with every performance. That wouldn’t be so bad except it has to be the same three cards every performance. So, you must either purchase three one-way decks, or a new deck for every single performance.

The skill level required: 2 of 5.
Audience management skill required: 2 of 5.
Performance angleS: 360 degrees
The rest time required: If the cards are not damaged, a few minutes
The DIY time involved in advance: A couple minutes

It’s a nice set of gimmicked cards, and a very good effect, but the instruction was not great and the effect has some significant limitations.

Suggestions from the Reviewer

Because you are using the same three indifferent cards with each performance, you might want to consider different options rather than having participants step on the cards. Perhaps the cards could go into envelopes that go into the participant’s pockets.
