PROS
There are so many torn and restored effects out there. The strength of this version is the torn pieces restore themselves instantly. It is really a clever gimmick. It actually restores itself!
This is super easy to handle as the gimmick does all the work.
The explanation was pretty good, but lacking in one area.
CONS
You will need to make the gimmick yourself. It is a bit of a craft project. However, they explain that the cost of the effect would have increased significantly if they provided a pre-made gimmick and I can see why. It will take you a bit of time to make one. Fortunately, everything except for regular household items are included for you to make your gimmick.
Now for the explanation. If you do get this, pay close attention to Shin Lim’s performance and PLEASE, learn what NOT to do from his performance. First, it is my opinion that it is best to NOT create or foster an adversarial relationship with your audience. He starts the performance creating such an atmosphere. He has just invited his audience to try to sabotage his next effect. Second, it was just bad magic to put his hands in his pocket and them come back out the way he did. It is a tell. Hands to the pocket should always be on the offbeat, perhaps after one magic moment and before the next magic moment.
VERDICT
The gimmick is very cool, the performance demonstrations were terrible. If you get the effect, you will need to come up with your own performance that sells. The ones on the DVD didn’t.
