3DM (3 Deceptive Moves), is a collection of sleights from the creative mind of Mike Hankins. These sleights have been in Mike's working repertoire for close to 10 years, and now he is sharing these with you!

The Eteson Change. You show the spectator a card, they say it is not the card they picked. With just a wave of the hand, the card changes into their selection. There are many color changes out there that produce the same result, but none that look as clean as the Eteson Change. The fingers remain open and spread during the entire duration of the color change. The move is both fluid and smooth and really looks like magic.

The JG Move. This is Mike's take on the classic KM Move. In Mike's handling, the switch can happen while the spectators are burning your hands. You don't have to execute the move on the offbeat. AND this switch can also be used as a MID-AIR color change. This utility moves has many applications that are only limited to your imagination.

The Anjuna Fan Control. A card is selected and placed back in the pack. You shuffle the cards and execute a couple of fans. In the act of closing the fan, you have controlled the selected card either second from the top, or right to the top. The choice is yours. There are many card controls out there already, but this is a control created for magicians who like to do a little flourishing with their magic.

Mike Hankins has a unique way of handling the cards. His approach seems both fresh and loose. He is an experienced teacher and hits all the angles for these three moves.

The Eteson Change: This is a change that mimics the classic Erdnase or Houdini color change. It is more deceptive but you leave your left side fairly vulnerable. At any point the top and bottom card can be freely displayed. If the deck was turned face down this could double as a control.

JG Move: This is a way to conceal the back of a card, clean up some dirty work or produce a card with a pop. You learn a couple clever routines here including a transpo, and a couple different ideas that change the back of a card. You could use this for a prediction if you’d like.

Anjuna Fan: This is a control using a fan that you can use to control a card to the top or second to top. I prefer the second to top.

So for ten bucks you get an entertaining download with three unique moves. None of it is completely groundbreaking but they are all solid, straightforward and usable.

The things you will find in this download are quite nice but every one of them will take some hefty practice.

The Eteson Change looks very good, but you will have to get used to using your fingers in a different way to make this one work. I consider myself an advanced card worker and even I have trouble with this one, but once you get it down, it looks fantastic.

The JG Move purports that is starting point, the KM Move (crated by Tony Kardyro and Ed Marlo and published as a manuscript back in 1961) is intended as a switch. It is actually intended as a utility to reverse (or right-reverse) a card or exchange a number of cards. In the case of the JG Move, it is used more as a switch and quite a nice one at that. This is probably the easiest of the three items in this download and makes for a nice color change or transposition of a signature from one card to another. It is not a replacement for the traditional KM Move.

If there are any of these items which will look ham-handed or clunky without practice, it is this one. Not too many performers these days are familiar with or use fan controls of any sort, like the Fan Pass. This is a very nice addition to that family of ideas, but again as with the other two items, this will take some work to make it smooth.

With each sleight/utility, Mike also shows you an effect in which you can utilize it. The effects are all very good but they may not work in every environment, though the methods are solid.

Overall you are getting three very good ideas to play around with and if you like more flourish-esque moves, you will enjoy these for that reason too.

If you like what you see in the trailer, pick this up - it is a great value for the money.

Suggestions

For the JG Move - try doing this with thicker playing cards. It is not necessary, but it really does add something to it.
