Complete Peek Wallet Review

I really like this wallet but I also have a few issues. First, the good stuff. It's a nice soft leather, it's extremely cheap and it does exactly what it says it does. And it's versatile, allowing you to either use it to peek at some secret information your audience member has written on a business card and also allowing you to load a business or playing card secretly into the wallet.

But I also have some issues. It's described as being an everyday wallet and to some extent, it CAN be. It's large enough to comfortably hold about 10 business cards, 5 bills and 2 credit cards. If you're like me, this isn't enough. Having said that, I do see where one could use this as an occasional wallet, meaning, if you KNOW you're going out to a social function or a meeting with a client and you might be asked to perform, you could take this along. I don't know about you, but even after getting rid of a lot of stuff from my everyday wallet, I still have medical cards, credit and debit cards, membership cards and one or two OTHER effects I like to carry in my wallet. In trying to please both Magicians and Mentalists, Mr. Miller made both peek and load features. Perhaps if he would have sold them as separate wallets, it may have freed up space. Besides, are there a lot of Magicians and/or Mentalists doing both? Again, these are my little gripes and I know Mr. Miller was also probably also trying to minimize the bulkiness. So is this an everyday wallet? Not for me and I suspect not for most. I also have a deep concern that the peek gimmick itself won't last a long time with repeated use. It's very thin and flimsy.

The one other problem I have is the instructions. No written instructions are provided. One is given a link to go to online. At that link is Joshua Jay doing a seven-minute tutorial. Unless I've missed something, that's it. I got my wallet from Vanishing Inc. but I also know Mr. Miller sells the product and it appears he offers a different online tutorial. Perhaps it's more thorough. Joshua Jay is a smart, competent performer. And he describes the basic handling very well. But what I wanted to see, and I think it's crucial with a product like this, is a real-time peek from the performer's view. I want to see EXACTLY how Mr. Jay closes the wallet and gets the peek. I wanted to see it real-time and I wanted to see it broken down into steps as there are angle considerations. Unfortunately, this isn't shown.

The good news is I was able to figure out a handling that works for me and try it in the real world. And you know what? NO ONE questioned it. I've had it for a few weeks now and I may have done it about a dozen times this past weekend at a lounge. It's very effective.

So, I highly recommend this but can't give it the best five-star rating I want to give it because of the issues I mentioned. If you do buy it, you might check with Mr. Miller first and find out what details are covered in the online explanations.

Manufacturer's Description:

A magician's wallet should do three things COMPLETELY and PERFECTLY: Allow you to get a peek of something a spectator has written. Allow you to reveal a palmed object inside a sealed compartment. Function as a great daily wallet. Some wallets do one or even two of these things, but The Complete Peek Wallet does ALL THREE.

The crowning achievement of the Complete Peek Wallet is that it allows for the fairest peek yet released: someone draws a picture on the back of your business card, and with your head completely turned, you slip the card back into the middle of a stack of credit cards or business cards. Yet at any point, you get a COMPLETE peek of the entire surface of what they have drawn.

The wallet also allows you to reveal a borrowed ring, signed card, key, or any small object from a sealed compartment. Palm and no-palm methods can be used interchangeably.

And, aside from all this, the wallet is manufactured in the United States with premium, soft leather. You can and should use this as your everyday wallet.
