Card Magic, Volume 1--Card Magic (VHS) Review

Y'know, some people are absolutely nuts about Jack Carpenter's stuff....on one hand, I think it's silly when people review magic INSTRUCTIONAL videos and talk about the guy's persona, because you're not watching the video to be entertained, you're watching it for INSTRUCTION.
However, you want the INSTRUCTOR to appear to be a good entertainer. That said, I just didn't find him (as a performer) to come across too well; now, I don't know if his spectators had been prepped or not, or maybe they were his old friends...I don't know, but his "performances" just lacked a certain something.
Now, if you like just the right blend of mentalism and card stuff, (all rolled into one)this is YOUR's hard to get that mix just right, but I gave it 2 stars just for that content-wise. The production value is good....1 star. The whole "is this stuff I'd really do"-schtick? Meh------one-half star....and that's about as far as it goes. If you can pick this up at a swap meet for a buck....sure, get it. But don't go mortgaging the farm for this one.
