Canned Card

Bazar De Magia

(Based on 1 review)
An effect that will be remembered by your audience.

A spectator selects a card, tears it in pieces and keeps one of them for himself. The magician burns/vanishes the remaining pieces and shows a perfectly well closed can. The can and a can opener are given to a second spectator. This spectator opens the can only to find a card inside, which has one corner missing. This corner is exactly the one that the other spectator kept for himself! Both can and card can be given as a souvenir.

Remember: The can is really closed and can be in full view the whole time. The spectator opens the can. The corner matches the chosen card.

This trick is a must-have that requires no sleight of hand.

You get a pack of 10 cans specially prepared with Red back Bicycle cards

Can Dimensions Approximately: 2.5" tall - 2.75" diameter

Really?

REALLY?

A card inside of a can of peas?

Seriously?

I thought it was so silly I ran a contest during my segment on Mystery School Monday. If someone could send me an interesting premise and routine outline that used this prop, I would send them the set of ten cans I got for review.

I was wrong. Someone sent in a very clever idea and even went so far as to involve other effects on the market. I'm glad, because I didn't want to get stuck with them.

In addition, one of my good friends, a professional magician and well-respected guy, has a full routine with the concept (slightly different gimmick, but basically the same).

There's not much more to say. It is what it is. A bunch of sealed pea cans, devoid of peas, but with a 3/4 card stuck inside. The remaining quarter card is supplied and ready for you to switch out using your favorite method.

I'm giving it 4 stars because it's a good version of what it is, even if I don't think it's very practical.

If you think you can work this sort of thing into your act without being exceedingly tacky, go for it.
