The Taiji Coin Vanish & Other Mysteries

Allen Zingg

(Based on 1 review)
The Taiji Coin Vanish is a new complete vanish of a large coin such as a silver dollar or half dollar. Designed to be performed standing and away from tables, The Taiji Coin Vanish uses no Topits, Hold-Outs or other mechanical devices or special clothing to cause a coin to vanish completely without a trace.

You will not only be taught how to perform this vanish, but you will also learn a half-dozen principles of body movement adapted from the art of Taiji. Application of these principles will open up new vistas and approaches in your performances, making your magic both more natural and deceptive.

Also included on this comprehensive DVD are Bonus Routines:

The Taiji Coin Vanish Plus
Adds to The Taiji Coin Vanish using a simple but overlooked gimmick you can easily make to accomplish another complete coin vanish.

The Appearing Travelers
Four silver dollars appear one at a time. Then they travel one at a time from hand to hand. No difficult sleights, the routine uses open actions, open hands and is designed to be performed standing. No lapping, no extra coins or shells, just the simple gimmick explained in the DVD.

4—Go
Four silver dollars vanish one at a time, each in a different and highly visual and magical way. Ease of performance using the simple gimmick mentioned above. You can easily use any of these approaches in other routines in which you need to vanish a coin.

C—Form Palm
Using one of the Taiji principles taught on this DVD, you will be able to perform a direct bottom palm of a playing card—effortlessly. And, you’ll soon be looking for other ways to utilize this principle in your magic.

This DVD continues Allen Zingg’s Acting—Naturally methods and approach to the performance of magic to help you perform naturally, easily and with powerful results. Previous DVD’s in this series have met with acclaim:

"I just wanted to write and tell you thank you for putting out your Acting Naturally DVD…I would have NEVER learned such advice from any other source that I can think of…I can't tell you how happy I am with it and all of the information you provided in it. I want you to know that I will be using it for a lifetime."

"Elemental Coin Magic" is as necessary for the vast majority of coin workers as the coins themselves. This is the best instruction on performing coin magic – and more magic beside -- that you'll come across."
- Shane, On-Line Visions

"Finally had a chance to at least sit down and look at the first DVD....Wow...You're very generous. There's a lot of ideas in there...good ones. It does stir the imagination...They're getting some important and creative material there...should stir their imaginations a lot, hopefully. And the conversations are important too. Good material treated with thoughtfulness and respect. It should push the boundaries of their thinking. And help to raise awareness of what not to do and also how to think about reasons for doing it. Very clear. I thought you covered the points beautifully."

Allen Zingg's new DVD is the next in a series of videos emphasizing naturalness in performance. Mr. Zingg first shows us a nice coin vanish that works best with a silver dollar. It's done slowly and smoothly, standing, away from a table and despite some angle issues, is fairly practical.

Zingg continues with The Taiji Coin Vanish Plus, using a gimmick you probably already own to convincingly vanish a coin. I liked this even better, because the displays seem to be so fair and open.

There are two more coin routines that are quite good, not just because of the handling, but because of Zingg' s clear understanding of body positioning. His thinking behind these sleights can be applied to the other magic you're already doing.

There's also a clever card palm that's smoothly done during an overhand shuffle. Even though it seemed out of place on this disc, it was quite wonderful.

Overall, I don't think any of the sleights on this disc will be overly demanding on anyone, but what will take time and effort are the application of the strategies Zingg uses to accomplish the naturalness he strives for.

I don't think you'll be disappointed.
