Crazy Ball Review

It sounds strange... and it kinda is. You're basically presenting a chop cup routine in which the ball is animated (using Copin's thread, included with the DVD).

I apologize up-front, but this review is just going to be a hodge-podge of comments with no real structure.

The routine is choreographed to custom music, which is a nice touch. It's not clear whether or not the rights to use the music and effects are included with the cost of the DVD.

I found that the thread work was much more polished than some of the basic sleights (ball vanishes, lapping techniques, etc.).

Even though I don't buy into the “Too Perfect Theory”, the amount of animation in this routine is probably going to leave many people with the “how else?” feeling that it's all done with thread.

Many of the “effects” involve smoking a cigarette. In most of the world, this isn't going to be a problem. But here in the U.S., the number of smoke-acceptable venues is shrinking every year.

Overall, I found the routine to be a bit long and repetitive.

The DVD instruction is excellent, as usual with Copin's products.

In conclusion, I think there are a lot of interesting ideas here that someone could use to make a wonderful routine. If the ball is going to be animated, I think the performer needs to give it more of a personality.

Manufacturer's Description:

Cup routines are numerous. Crazy Ball is an innovative and highly original version in which you will find almost all of the key effects of magic.

Crazy Ball is full of crazy effects (appearances, disappearances, transpositions, penetrations, transformations and levitations). Crazy Ball is the result of a long creative research project which was undertaken by its creator, Bruno COPIN.
Bruno's work has received prizes in many international competitions. He presented Crazy Ball on the TV show Special Las Vegas (Starling productions) which featured some of the world's greatest magicians. The show was presented by the famous French magician, Sylvain MIROUF.

To highlight the strong effects contained in this routine, original music was composed by specialists. This routine is literally a feat of magic when presented live by Bruno because in order to perform it perfect timing is required between the sound effects and magic gestures. You will be able to isolate each individual effect and organize them to suit your own timing.

Instruction booklet and a sample of Copin's Invisible Thread are included.
