Industrial Revelation

Jamie D. Grant

Vanishing Inc.

(Based on 1 review)
Astound every audience with a mind-bending close-up illusion.

A quarter or knife is pushed through a playing card tuck box. This doesn't seem like that impressive of a feat until you open the box. Your audience won't believe their eyes when they see a solid steel block fall out instead of a deck of cards.

This is the type of moment that leaves people stunned. Their brains can't compute what happened. It's a true moment of magic that is incredibly easy to perform.

No complicated switches, steals, or sleight of hand are needed. The whole effect is basically self-working.

Industrial Revelation by Jamie D. Grant originally took the magic community by storm when it was first released. It was voted Trick of the Year and has since sold for extremely high prices on the secondary market after going out of production many years ago.

With Jamie's permission, Vanishing Inc. has worked hard to make this beloved effect available again in a new, improved version. Brush steel and a secure mechanism ensure this seamless gimmick can withstand audience inspection.

Whether you use it as a captivating opener or an attention-grabbing way of establishing credibility, Industrial Revelation is a practical and easy effect you'll perform for years to come.

Overview

Industrial Revelation by Jamie D Grant and re-released by Vanishing Inc is the gorilla version of the classic Matchbox Penetration (AKA Matchbox Mystery, Magic Matchbox, etc.). The original Matchbox Penetration was one of those effects that was interesting but fraught with presentational issues. For me the first issue was that nobody carries matchboxes anymore so it wasn’t an everyday organic object. The second issue was that its size relegated it to just a small group of people being it wasn’t sizable enough for everyone to see even at a large circular table. The last issue I had was that I couldn’t come up with a compelling way to present it and it was basically a one trick pony which amounted to a puzzle than a routine. Enter….Industrial Revelation. For me, Industrial revelation solved all the quandaries I had with Matchbox Penetration.

Effect

A performer takes out a few cards from a card case and performs with them. It could be Card Warp, Twisting the Aces or any small packet trick. He has a spectator make sure the rest of the deck is in the box by pressing on the box and they do. He announces he is going to make the rest of the deck disappear and proceeds to pass a thin object from back to front right through the card box. The spectators are shocked, but not as shocked as when he states he will make it reapear. The card case is now dropped into their palm up hand with a thud. The case is opened up and a 24 oz solid block of metal is removed.

Method

The method utilizes and very well made gimmicked block that would surpass any quick inspection. Industrial revelation is designed to allow a thin object such as a folded card, bill or knife to pass through it and then be reset to hand out for inspection.

Product Quality

The quality of the of block itself is excellent. The main issue is that the block will be inspected and it has to look like what it is, a solid block of metal. There can be no telltale sign that the block is gimmicked. When it arrives it will be in a ballistic carry case and a card with link for the downloadable instructions. The instructions are 30 minutes long and covers the origin of the trick, how to prepare your card box, care and maintenance of the gimmick, a PDF of Performance Ideas and a PDF Care and Maintenance guide. The Performance Ideas include some by Gregory Wilson, Rich Bloch, Paul Green, David Regal and Andy Nyman. The video instructions are basic but there isn’t much to know.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is accurate and the product met and surpassed all my expectations.

Final Thoughts

As a side note, the block is an exact fit for a card case, so there is no room for more than two cards in the case with the block. If you wanted to take cards from the card case before and perform a trick as if to sublimely state that this is a box of cards, you would need to purchase an expanded Bicycle card box. The expanded card boxes allow for the addition of 9 extra cards.
