DJ's effect SWEET is one where an initialed coin or borrowed ring vanishes and reappears inside of a sealed sweetener packet that has been in view the whole time. This effect leaves them speechless or in some cases causes the onlookers to develop Tourette's Syndrome right on the spot!

As a bonus DJ teaches another reputation maker called the BIRTHDAY CARD. The birthday person selects a card and signs it and the magician has trouble finding it, so to divert their attention he presents them with a sealed greeting card envelope. He claims that inside is a birthday card. Instead they find a playing card with a different colored back with a personal birthday message. To their surprise it is their signed card!

Diamond Jim has used both of these reputation makers for over 15 years to slay spectators! The DVD was shot before a live audience and includes the necessary gimmicks.

For $25.00 you get two really powerful effects, one tool that you'll need to do the effect and a birthday card envelope.

This is a simple review to write. If you work professionally, this will most likely be valuable to you. The product quality is excellent. The sound, light, camera work, teaching, etc., are all excellent. Both effects are "object to impossible location," a plot that I love.

One is a signed card to "sealed" envelope, and the other is a signed coin to sugar packet. Both are great effects, but both cannot be handled by the spectator and cannot be examined while the object is inside of the "impossible location." Once the object has been removed, then everything can be handled and examined.

In my opinion, $25 is a little bit steep. Consider, for example, John Bannon's Twisted Sister DVD. It comes with 8 cards (2 of which are specially printed), a vinyl wallet and DVD all for only $15.00. Twisted Sister is such a powerful effect that I'd be willing to pay much more than $15.00 for it.

So the question is, do you like the two effects that Diamond Jim Tyler is offering? If you do like the effects, then the question is would you be willing to pay $25.00 for them. For me, the answer is no. Here's why. For both effects, it's best to be wearing a blazer or sport coat or suit jacket. Tyler covers how to perform these with other wardrobe choices. However, they are nowhere near as practical as the coat-wearing methods. That's a problem for me because 95% of the time I do strolling or close up magic, I don't wear a jacket.

However, if you like the effect and your wardrobe works, then everything else is in order (if you don't mind paying $25.00). You'll get very detailed instructions from a very friendly guy who has clearly been performing for many years. The effects are very doable and within the reach of even the novice.

Final Verdict: 3.5 stars with a Stone Status of Gem.
