Lie Detector Lantern Deluxe

Robert Baxt

(Based on 1 review)
Robert Baxt has done it again with one of the most practical and memorable comedy lie detectors around!

Comedy, comedy, comedy! Whether you perform for comedy clubs, walkaround, stage, MC, comic roasts, or even children's shows, the Baxt Lie Detector lantern Deluxe will find a perfect SPOT in your routines!

Master Comedy Magician Robert Baxt has done it again! He's taken a classic comedy premise and added to it a state of the art, quality constructed, reliable, ultra dependable, simple to maintain, piece of electronic equipment so that everyone can easily be funny!

The performer shows his audience a perfectly unsuspicious battery operated camping lantern. Explaining about the latest advances in technology he tells them this device is actually a state of the art lie detector as used by military forces in the field. He says it cost $10,000 dollars and without touching it, the lantern suddenly turns on by itself, flashes red, and emits a piercing "BZZZZZZZZ!" sound The performer corrects himself by explaining that the lantern actually cost $5,000 dollars. "BZZZZZZZZ! The lantern goes off again! He quickly adds that it cost him nothing as the President himself gave it to him as a gift. "BZZZZZZZZ! BZZZZZZZZ! BZZZZZZZZ!" The lantern repeatedly blinks on and off and buzzes rapidly. The crowd goes wild!

The potential for comedy and fun with the Baxt Lie Detector lantern Deluxe is endless! Have a spectator come on stage and ask him if he likes his boss. "BZZZZZZZZ!" Ask if he loves his wife. "BZZZZZZZZ!" Ask him if his boss loves his wife! "BZZZZZZZZ!" You get the idea; use it as a running gag throughout your show. Use it at kid shows! Ask a child if he cleans his room. "BZZZZZZZZ!" Ask if he's been a good kid. "BZZZZZZZZ!" Use it at any event where there's a special guest being honored. For roasts, it's the perfect routine!

Perfect for any size crowd! Use it at trade shows where you prove how the competitions' claims are all lies! Close-up and walkaround, it can be taken from table to table as you ask funny questions and perform your magic.

Hocus-Pocus is proud to team up with Robert Baxt again as he shares this incredible prop with the magic fraternity. Comes with pages and pages of Robert's jokes, lines, questions, and suggestions for your ease of use. BEST OF ALL, DON'T MEMORIZE THE QUESTIONS! THE lantern COMES WITH THEM ALREADY PRINTED OUT AND MOUNTED ON A CLIPBOARD SO THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING BUT TAKE THE CREDIT!

This is a quality remote control electronic device that has a range of over 75 feet. It is waterproof and runs on 4 D cell batteries (included). Size is 11 inches tall by 5 inches wide. Take it out of the box and it's ready to go! And it's the easiest to use and most rugged and durable magic prop you've ever seen, guaranteed! Under the complete control of the performer at all times.

REMEMBER UNLIKE OTHER REMOTE CONTROL ELECTRONIC DEVICES THAT ARE FRAGILE AND HAVE TO BE HANDLED DELICATELY, BAXT'S LIE DETECTOR lantern DELUXE IS DURABLE! TAKES A BEATING AND KEEPS ON CHEATING!

Robert is a fine magician and a really funny guy, but this is not a review about him, rather his latest version of his "Lie Detector Lantern".

"Lie Detector" routines have been around for a long time, what makes this different is the "vehicle". Google "remote controlled lanterns" and you will find numerous lanterns availble. The lantern you receive has been modified to flash a red light and make a beep-beep-beep sound. In the older models, pushing the button once and holding it, the lantern would flash and beep one time, then automatically turn off. In the current model, the performer has to push the button a second time to deactivate the lantern. This does not seem like a big deal until you actually use the remote. (Your garage door remote is much more reliable.)

The ads say the lantern is "rugged and durable". The older verson the buzzer had been installed inside the battery casing, the most recent version has the buzzer installed on the outside of the lantern. While this does increase the volume over the older model, it now makes the buzzer subject to damage.

The ad states a range of "over 75ft". I have yet to get mine to opperate further than 15ft away! And to get it to work, I had to remove it from the clip boardand point it directly at the lantern and press the button multiple times. Which brings us to the subject of the remote. This thing is HUGE!
It measures 1 3/8" wide X 3 7/8" long.

The clip board is needed just to hide this thing! While the clip board solves the problem of hiding the remote, it creates another problem. Later in the show, if you want to do a "call back" you will have needed to palm off the remote and slip it into your pocket. (The remote is attached with velcro and does make a noise) The remote does not consistantly work from inside your pocket. If you have an assistant or someone else who can activate the remote from "off stage" then your only concern would be the distance, but now this is no longer a " solo performers" solution to the biggest drawback with this type of effect in the past.

The clip board is the dollar store variety and the jokes are pretty much simple questions. Questions that without a lot of
effort you would have thought up on your own.

I purchased this from Hocus Pocus and they were great to work with. When I voiced my concerns, they were quick to respond and offered me my money back.

There is a lot of comedy potiencial here, the product is decently made, especially when compared to a lot of the other magic equipment being sold these days, but with a price tag of two hundred dollars I cannot rate it above "average".
