Perplexing Pen

(Based on 1 review)

Effect:

The performer hands the spectator a regular looking office pen and is invited to examine it. The performer then displays a small drinking glass and asks the spectator to examine it also. The performer places the pen across the top of the glass. The spectator is then asked to focus their eyes on the pen and to visualize the pen moving. Suddenly, defying the laws of gravity, the pen rotates onto the pen clip! The spectator is asked to concentrate even harder, and after a brief pause, the pen turns sideways, like the second hand of a clock, until it falls off of the glass and onto the table! Everything can then be examined!

I've had this for about a week now, and bottom line, for the money, this is a miracle close-up effect that's clean, ultra easy to carry, and even easier to perform. The pen is 100% examinable, it writes, and it IS a common brand/type of pen. But I must note that it's VERY important to practice and take the time to get to "know" your pen. It can be a moody SOB when not handled correctly (lol), and that may frustrate many, but don't get frustrated because once you "know" your pen, you're carrying a miracle so easy, small and maintenance-free that you'll forget you're carrying it. And performing it is a FULL confidence situation that is so ridiculously easy that you'll feel guilty that you're not working harder (really). Highly recommended. (Note: the glass presentation is ONE of many ways to present this. I place it on the edge of a counter or table and then 'focus my energies' from a distance with the spectator/s help *wink*. The pen kind of perches up, then literally teters on the edge truly impossibly for a bit, then kind of suddenly drops like a stone to the floor. I use this presentation more often because a glass isn't always readily available. But trust me, the table-edge version is really freaky looking and can be done ANYWHERE)
