It must not be presented as a mechanical curiosity, but as an example of something out of the ethereal. EFFECT: A blank hard bound book is displayed. You summon a spirit of bygone years to help in the following experiment. Laying a quill across the blank page you summon the spirits' help. Suddenly the quill pops up and begins writing. It moves erratically about the page as if controlled by some spectral hand.

Finally it stops writhing. You remove the pen and tear off the page. Incredibly, written in a shaky but legible form is the answer posed to a question asked by a spectator!

Anything you want written will appear. Yes, you must force the word, design, phrase, etc., but don’t let that stop you. This is an incredible effect that will have them really believing in spirits. A hidden electric motor does all the work so you have nothing to do but work on the presentation.
