This classic illusion was invented by Robert-Houdin, the father of modern magic. Updated and revised, this effect is the ideal two-person, play anywhere, do surrounded method of floating a lady in the air! Briefly your assistant steps-up on a step-stool that is sitting on a thin platform. You place two brooms (broom bristles upright) under her arms. Suddenly you pull the stool out from under the girl and she is now suspended with only the bristles of each broom holding her up! You then remove one of the brooms and lift her from her vertical position to a 45° angle, and then completely horizontal with the broom. The procedure is then reversed and you have just established your reputation as being able to float a lady in the air!Our Broom Suspension illusion features all steel construction for strength and rigidity (no aluminum casting to break!) and yet weighs less than ten pounds. It is a fully welded assembly (TIG) that is contour formed as established by architectural graphic standards. It is assembled with top grade button head cap screws and hardened steel pivot pins. The U-shaped harness ribs are formed out of 1/8" by 1-3/4" wide steel, and the ratchet and plunger mechanism is made from 115,000 PSI tensile strength stress-proof carbon-manganese alloy steel. A full radius bullet nose makes engagement a breeze. The entire assembly is electroplated with black oxide to resist rust and corrosion. 1-3/4" wide leather straps and steel buckles attached to the ribs with machine screws and finishing washers complete the harness assembly. The upright broom is made from a five foot length of 1020-26 DOM steel tubing which sockets inside the wooden base. The base measures 4-1/4" x 42" x 24." It is covered with formica type laminate. One of the unique features of our Broom Suspension is our patented spring loaded lever release. By utilizing a bar to deliver lever action, we have done away with the fumbling that is traditionally associated with finding pull or hook type releases. The lever action also does away with the unmagical "ratcheting noise."
