Ugly Duckling, The

(Based on 1 review)
A large egg is shown to the kiddies and as the story begins to unfold it hatches and from inside emerges the little Ugly Duckling. The kiddies will sympathise with him when you tell of the trials and tribulations which he suffers through his lack of beauty. You tell how he swims across the pond and then, feeling so lonely and so unhappy, he hides in the rushes. He is placed behind a stand decorated to represent the pond, his head showing just over the top. Suddenly the head begins to rise, higher and higher, the stand suddenly falls over and there is, no longer the Ugly Duckling, but a Beautiful White Swan. Here is story-magic at its very, very best, and a delightful transformation that will charm even the youngest child. The Ugly Duckling cannot fail to win their hearts. From the magician’s point of view it is a trouble-free effect, there is nothing to go wrong, it looks BIG and yet it packs flat in the bag.
A fascinating and unusual effect based on the immortal fairytale by Hans Andersen.

This is a strange trick, in fact I would not call it a trick more of a story telling aid.

The kids will OOHH and AAHH! all through it and will no doubt love it but it doesn't win any awards for mystery.

However if you are a childrerns entertainer then you should have this in your show as kids love stories.
