A blank deck (approx. 40 cards) is spread on the table and a volunteer is asked to select a number between 1 - 40.

The magician counts the cards and takes out the card at the selected number and places it aside. Then he instructs the volunteer to sign on it.

Magician inserts the signed card somewhere in the middle of the deck as selected by the volunteer.

When the deck is turned over and spread on the table, only one card is found with a "?" mark printed on it.

On turning it over, it was found that the volunteer has signed on the back of that card only.

Magician then tells the volunteer that it happens only if both THINK ALIKE and not otherwise.

The special deck contains 40 laminated bridge size cards. Use your own whiteboard marker.

No need of re-fills as you can repeatedly use the cards as they are laminated.

Overview

There are many coincidence effects out on the market and many of them are quite clever. Think Alike by AK Dutt is also a coincidence effect which is easy to do but underwhelming at best.

Effect

The performer takes out a pack of blank laminated business size cards. He asks a spectator to think of a number between 1 and 40. He counts down to that number and pulls out the card at that number and asks the spectator to mark it in some way. For arguments sake, they draw a star on it. It is put back in the pack and the pack is spread out to find their card. Once found it is pushed forward and if the performer and the spectator was “on the same wavelength” the spectator would have chosen the card the performer wanted them to. The card is turned over and it is the only card with a question mark on the opposite side.

Method

The method is very basic and the desired card is forced on the spectator. The force is easy because there are 20 cards in play that can be forced. After the card is marked a simple turnover move allows the display of the marked card. Naturally, the other cards can’t be turned over.

Product Quality

What you receive are 40 laminated cards, 20 double blank cards and 20 with a question mark on one side. The explanation is 3 minutes long and is very rudimentary. You provide your own marker.

Ad Copy Integrity

The trick is explained in totality and there is nothing more to it. It is quick routine and perhaps if you are in need of laminated cards for another effect it might be worth the investment.
