Overview

John Carey and Big Blind Media (BBM) does it again with the Impossible Location Card Tricks DVD. If there was such a thing as batting averages for magic releases, BBM would have to be in the Magic Hall of Fame. It’s almost impossible to be disappointed with anything they have put out in the last several years. Between the creators they have such as Carey, Bannon and Montier and the production quality, there is little to be dissatisfied with.

Effect

On this DVD there are 10 easy to do cards tricks that the beginner to intermediate card enthusiast can perform with virtually any deck. The tricks range from sandwich effects to incredible location routines. Every one of the tricks featured on this set has been chosen for maximum impact with minimal handling. Most have been gleaned from routines created by others but reconfigured to eliminate the sleight of hand.

Method

There is always a trade off when it comes to magic, especially card magic. In order to eliminate sleight of hand, other methods have to be employed to make the magic happen. It is no different for the tricks on this DVD. Instead of sleights, down under deals, dealing into piles and various cuts are employed to create the effect. What John Carey has done is to invent plausible reasons for the spectator to do what needs to be done for the effect to work. Not only is this DVD a lesson in simplicity but by listening to Carey’s dialogue will help you with other tricks as well.

Product Quality

As alluded to before, BBM’s production quality leads the pack in set design, choice of material, pacing of the performances and instructions. The editing and photography are excellent, lighting and sound superb. One can tell that BBM strives to deliver a quality product.
