Overview

Canes Magic by Fabien Solaz is an offbeat, niche product that is a mix of basic cane magic and a self-promotional DVD. I’m hard pressed to decide which he loves more, magic or himself. The DVD is peppered with all kinds of glowing tributes by MC’s and clips of him going about his performing day.

Effect

Fabien Solaz explains the types, use and performance using canes. There are nine types of tricks performed and explained.

Method

Obviously, the method requires specific types of canes to achieve these effects. In addition to the canes, an items such as silks and balloons are needed as well.

Product Quality

The DVD devotes about 50% to magic and the other 50% to himself. The performances of each trick lasts about 30 seconds and the explanations run 3 minutes or less. The DVD itself is fairly well filmed, lit and the sound is good, however it is extremely difficult to navigate. One must constantly go back to the main menu and select what you want to watch.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy starts off extolling the virtues of Fabien Solaz (no surprise) and ends by telling you that this is the best DVD on cane magic. I thought that this was quite a strong statement until I researched and found….there is no other DVD on cane magic so I guess the statement is accurate. Either way, I don’t see any value in this production but the choice is yours.
