Gone Deck

Lim, Shin

Shin Lim

(Based on 1 review)
A visual masterpiece designed by Shin Lim and Tom Elderfield is used as a closer to Shin's Encore Act performed on the Illusionists Show from broadway. What more is there to say?

Gone Deck can both be used as an APPEARING and VANISHING card box, making this a very versatile prop to anyones repertoire.
Every package comes with a premade template so that you can apply any deck of your choosing and use it in the beginning, end, or even middle of your routine. And because it is simply one card thin and works as one unit with no separate parts to worry about, Gone Deck will not get in the way of your performances.

Gone deck comes with an instructional tutorial on how to perform different vanishes, appearances, and even color changes. In addition, Shin Lim teaches you how to not only take care of your gimmick, but also how to create new ones of your own.

Witness this incredible appearing and vanishing card box 5 years in the making

Overview

Gone Deck is an appearing and vanishing card box. It also can be used as a box to coins gimmick as well as several other effects. If anyone has seen Shin Lim perform, you will well know his attention to detail and how he can ring every drop of magic out of a prop. Be forewarned, you are not buying the actual gimmick but the template and materials to make your own. If you are not a Do-it-yourselfer, I highly recommend you pass on this one.

Effect

There are five effects you can do with this prop. With this versatile prop you can perform vanishes, appearances and a color change. The prop can be used at the beginning, in the middle or at the end of the routine

Method

The method utilizes a gimmick box. The box blended with choreographed moves will create the illusion you desire. Keep in mind, in Shin Lim’s hands, everything looks great. What you are seeing is hundreds of hours of practice. If that is not in your wheelhouse, this and his other effects are not for you.

Product Quality

The components provided are of good quality. The instructional video runs an hour and covers everything from the construction of the box to performing
the moves. The video is clear and the pacing is fine. Most of the filming is a static camera shot as he covers all the aspects needed. What is not clear by many is that the template provided should be used as such, a template so you can make more boxes when the first wears out.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is vague at best. It does mention that a template is provided but no mention that what you are purchasing is a template, some thread and a couple of magnets. It’s a pricey DIY project in my opinion. I think most people who purchased this expected a completed gimmick, which it is not.

Final Thoughts

Caveat Emptor..Buyer Beware. I have always had trouble building with elastic thread. This project utilizes elastic thread so if you are not confident in that area of construction, I would avoid purchasing this one.
