Have you ever wanted to return a gift?

A prediction is clearly shown with a gift card attached to it. A spectator selects a card, signs it and returns it to the pack. After showing the prediction does not match, the performer detaches the gift card and reveals the prediction that's been there since the beginning has transformed into their signed selected card.

PROS

This comes in a tiny package. Don’t let the size of the package set your expectation of the effect. This is a really powerful tool to have on you. The basic premise is you have a gift card paperclipped to a card. You can use this in many ways, but the first effect they teach is that you have a prediction card paperclipped to the gift card. The participant selects any card and you promise them that you will give them the gift card if your prediction is not correct. You show your prediction card and it is not correct. You remove the paperclip and instead of handing them the gift card, you hand them the playing card. You ask them if they wouldn’t rather have a nice playing card instead of a $50 gift card. You then ask again what their card was and have them turn over the card in their hand. The card in their hand now matches their selection.

The download video has several other effects:

SIGNED CARD SELECTION: A selected card is lost in the deck. You reveal the wrong card and paperclip it to the gift card. You then ask for a second chance and you find the same wrong card again. If that is the same wrong card, then what card is paperclipped to the gift card? It is their signed selection.

COLOR CHANGE: You show the back of a card clipped to your gift card. It is a red back. You talk about how you really don’t like the color red, so you remove the card that is paperclipped and it is now a blue back.

The video talks about how to repair or build a second gimmick. You can build a gimmick from most any gift card that you get at any number of stores. So, you could use an actual gift card.

The instruction is very good. The gimmick is very simple, and I think you will love it. If you liked the demo, you will love this prop.

What you get: You get one gimmick, one ungimmicked duplicate gift card, one paperclip, and a download video.

In the video they also talk about a nice way to use a duplicate ungimmicked gift card to give out an actual gift card. Very nice touch.

The effect is true to the ad copy. If you like what you see in the demo video, you are going to love this effect.

CONS

Wow, There isn’t much downside to this. You can’t hand out the gimmicked gift card, but they cover how to hand out a duplicate ungimmicked gift card. The premise of the effect lends itself to the easiest switch of the gimmick for an ungimmicked card.

Depending upon how you perform this, you might want to have your audience in front of you, but you could perform completely surrounded as well.

If you make your own gimmick, as in the suggestion they provide to use a real gift card, you will need to find a gift card that is the same length as a playing card. Most gift cards are a bit shorter. Otherwise, you will need to modify the handling just a bit to hide the excess card length.

AT A GLANCE

The skill level required: 1 of 5.
Audience management skill required: 2 of 5.
Performance angles: 360 degrees
The reset time required: Instant reset
The DIY time involved in advance: zero given you get a ready made gimmick, 2 minutes to make a replacement gimmick.

VERDICT

Simply awesome! Something you might always carry in your wallet.
