My dear friend Eugene Burger got me started working on the Grant Slow Motion Bill change over a decade ago. His version was on the market under the title Eugene’s Last Dollar. Other friends, like David Parr, had nice versions as well. But as the bills changed, almost all of the methods became obsolete. For the last few years, both Eugene and I have been doing a version based on the Roger Klause / Bob McAllister version. It still works for a couple of denominations, but even it will likely go the way of the dodo soon.

Along comes Bob Solari with what is, to me, a new method. . . and a very clever one (as usual).

You don’t get much, but you don’t need much. You receive a four-page instruction booklet and a $5 gimmick (made from a photocopy; more on that in my Suggestions below).

Bob’s description is basically accurate. Features include:
  • Works with new and old-style bills
  • Both bills can be borrowed
  • Both bills can be signed
  • Any denomination bills can be used
  • Works with foreign currency, as well

However, I should point out that not all of these conditions are 100% applicable all of the time. There’s a gimmick. You know that. You can make more than one. But to be truly universal, you’ll need to be prepared for whatever people have on them (not hard, but I thought I should point it out). And the “foreign currency” capabilities are limited, as well.

But I’m nitpicking. With very little work, and some basic skills in audience management, you’ll be ready to do this anytime, anywhere.

The only other thing I need to mention is that it’s going to take some practice. That’s true of most good magic, but especially true here. There’s a “moment” that you need to make sure is invisible to the audience, either through technique, psychology or both.

Suggestions

Even though the product comes with a gimmick made from a photocopy. I highly suggest using the real thing. Photocopies never match the real color and most modern printers may not even allow you to perform a copy or scan.
