Overview

Rising Wand by Alan Wong is his version of the Silver Scepter, which is a classic kid’s magic prop that just about anyone who performs magic for children probably already owns. Simple in construction, the prop relies on the ability of the performer to capitalize on the wand’s independent personality as it jumps out of its case much to the frustration of the performer. Like any other prop available to the magic community, there is the economy version and the premium version. This is without question; the most economical version I have seen. Although worth the asking price, I’m not sure who the target market is for this item because any self respecting performer should not and would not perform with such a cheap prop.

Effect

The performer brings out a magic wand and for some reason, the wand does not want to cooperate. It will not stay still as it continues to defy commands to stay put. It rises in defiance of the magician’s commands and continues to frustrate him as he jousts with the wand before the giggling audience.

Method

The wand is constructed in such a way that it can rise in the magician’s hand at his will. Of course the game is that the magicians pretends to be in control but he is not. The wand steals the show and continues to annoy and frustrate the performer in front of his audience.

Product Quality

This is probably the most economical rising wand on the market. It is made of plastic and does not come with a carry bag. In the better rising wand props, the bag is part of the act and adds another dimension to the entire routine. One would have to find or make a bag. The instructional video is one minute long and just shows you how to hold and operate the wand. No routine is provided but there are dozens online to watch.

Ad Copy Integrity

There isn’t much to the ad copy and there isn’t much to the prop. It is worth the asking price but if you intend to perform for a living, I highly recommend you purchase the metal version with the case.
