The performer borrows a credit card, driver's license or almost any other plastic card. The card is wrapped in an examined paper napkin, and a spectator is invited to hold tightly to a corner of the wrapped card. Then a pencil, pen, toothpick, nail or even a chopstick is slowly pushed through the credit card. A moment later, the card is unwrapped and returned to the owner. Unharmed includes a very cool gimmick, and the full-length DVD features a wide variety of handlings for close-up and stand-up performances.

Overview

Unharmed by Jay Sankey is another clever, out of the box, walk around magic effect that can be repeated with virtually no set up time. I always wonder when something like Unharmed is released, how come no one had thought of this earlier. Like almost all of Sankey’s releases, Unharmed is simple, effective and requires only basic skills and simple gimmicks. If one is familiar with classic magic effects, Unharmed is the penetration frame without the frame, making it ultra-portable and can use everyday items like credit cards, gift cards, loyalty cards or even a drivers’ license.

Effect

The performer borrows a club card (or credit card) from someone and wraps it in a napkin taken right of the table. A pencil is then pushed through the plastic card. The pencil is shown penetrating the card from the front, back and side. The pencil is removed and the card is taken out of the napkin totally whole and unharmed.

Method

The method uses a simple gimmick which allows you to perform this incredible feat. The gimmick which can be kept at ready in your wallet or pocket is reminiscent of the familiar penetration frame but without the frame. Very basic handling skills are required which makes this perfect to learning magic or for the more experienced, allowing them to focus on the presentation.

Product Quality

The gimmick provided is simple but well made. If handled and stored properly, it should last forever. Careless storage will scratch it, which depending on your performance style, may hamper the effect. The DVD tutorial is over one hour and explains numerous methods and styles in which you can use the gimmick. Everything is explained thoroughly.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is always written in the spectator point of view which, taking that into perspective, is very accurate. Many may balk at the selling price considering the simplicity of the gimmick but taking into account the completeness of the explanation, the portability of the gimmick and the multitude of opportunities to perform this effect, you are getting a nice package.
