A red card box is placed on the table in full view. Performer explains that the box contains a blue backed prediction card. A red backed deck is handed to the spectator to mix. Spectator FREELY selects ANY card from this mixed deck. The blue backed card is removed from the card box. The prediction card and selected card are both turned face up. BOTH CARDS MATCH ! The performer looks at the spectator and say's 'I bet you think all the cards are the same?' Performer now say's ' You're correct !' The deck is now turned face up and ribbon spread across the table. Astonish combines themes from several routines in my own repertoire, so I suppose I was destined to like it!

The description gives you the effect, so let me just comment on specific pieces that may be important if you're considering purchasing this effect:


  • While the description has you starting with the box and prediction card already on the table, there's no reason you couldn't have all of the cards in the box and just remove the red-backed deck, leaving the blue-backed prediction card in the box.

  • You'll want to have some audience management skills if you're going to allow the deck to be shuffled by an audience member. If you're not confident handing out the deck, there's no reason you can't shuffle yourself or just leave the shuffle out since it's not inherently necessary for a magical effect.

  • There are no real "sleights" to speak of. There's only one moment where you need to be a bit careful with the cards and the choreography of the routine makes even that pretty simple.
